Does it have to be the same brand of resin you use? Also I tried looking on your list and I can’t see the white dye. What do you use for white dye? Would pigment paste work?
@naturallybecoming831Ай бұрын
Do you have to prepare the wood with anything before applying the resin
@MegDionАй бұрын
@@naturallybecoming831 I personally don’t! I’ve never had any issues with that since the wood is already treated. If you were using untreated wood then I believe you would need to prepare it 👩🏻🎨

You just saved a salvaged pottery barn coffee table for me. I got it with broken glass, in need of major tlc and decided to inlay a crashing wave inset. My houses flooring is so uneven it nearly went junk. Thank you girl! I’ll post the finishing video and give credit. The first step is a short on my channel before it all went to junk. Off to fix it!

I haven't mastered the waves either! I'll try the allumilite. My question is, what should the consistency be? Like... if I use 5 or 10 ml resin, how many drops of white pigment would you typically use? This would be sooo helpful! Thanking you in advance😊

Hi Meg, what brand is the white dye you used? I couldnt find it in the links in the description box

Hey! It’s by the brand “Alumilite” the white is sometimes sold out on Amazon but it’s amazing! I’d wait for the shipping on it any day or check out a local art store for it 😀❤️

A year on any changes? I find doing the white first letting it sit for 15, then do the others means the white doesn't contract too much as it sets.

What the mixing ratio of hardener and resin? Also how much die powder should I get for a gallon? Or is it just to preference?
@MegDion Жыл бұрын
It can depend on the resin you’re using, always check the labels for the mixing ratio :) personally with the ArtResin brand I use it’s 1:1 ratio so just equal mixtures of resin and hardener! And for the powder you can get a small container to see how far that takes you with your projects :) typically dyes and pigments are so pigmented that you don’t need a lot :)

How long before you start blowing the waves? Do you let it set for 20 minutes ? I followed your instructions to the letter and still cant make ocean waves. Are you skipping a step that is not recorded? Thank you just my 12 year old daughter and I are trying to make some for a project.

Hey! 10 seconds into the video I show the white I use with the brand label visible. It says “Alumlite” and in white. Resin is not coloured it’s clear, this pigment is added to resin. I use the brand “ArtResin” to create ocean waves. You can wait about 10-20 minutes to pour the white on to start creating waves but if I pour the white on right away, it can also work.

how much dye do you add to resin?

It doesn’t matter too much but I would say a couple of drops since it’s very pigmented ☺️
@dswatik99 Жыл бұрын
when you add the blue resin is it thick, as in letting it sit a bit before poring? Also is the white think when adding? mine seem to blend into each other and look aweful
@MegDion Жыл бұрын
I find that when I use the right types of colours (pigment for the blue and the thick white pigment for the white) they don’t blend together because they’re slightly different consistencies. I have all the products I used link on my Amazon storefront which can be found in the description of all my videos :) I know it can be frustrating - it took me sooo long to get the hang of it but you got this!

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: You also need a higher quality Heat Gun that can really blow some air. Do not buy a cheap heat gun
@Zetamomma Жыл бұрын
I'm wondering if this is part of my problem - bought quality white tint, let everything sit a while and still no cell action! I used a heat gun that is intended for embossing cards and such....thinking I should try my powerful hair dryer on high heat instead....

The first 10 seconds of the video I show the brands & the supplies are all linked in the description. I have an entire Amazon storefront dedicated to the ocean art materials. I explained how to reduce bubbles in resin, how to mix, how to mix the colours, where to place the white dye, (I spread it right away), how to tilt the heat gun and the angle it should be at, I show the method that didn't work with alcohol ink, I show how to add more white if blue is showing through, I mention you need to work on an even surface, I show a second example, how long it takes to cure. I show my exact method twice through. But yeah I just wanted to brag, right? 🙄
