This is incredibly! I’ve watch so many videos on how to do this. The wait time of 20 minutes has given me more success. I can not even begin to tell you how many failed attempts I’ve had. Hundreds of dollars in resin. I have made huge messes and hours of cleaning things up after an attempt. I’m so impressed how carful and meticulous and seemly effortless you do this. I think maybe I saw one drop on you paper. You have really mastered the art. Your work is beautiful. I aspire to you that one day I’ll get the hang of this and have success. Thank you Nancy,

Ohh Nancy, thank you for your kind words but I feel your pain. It took me a good 6 months of trial and error to get any kind of lacing, and I'm still figuring out what works and what doesn't. If I wait till my resin is nice and thick like cold honey, I get the best results. Thicker seems to hold the cells without them blurring (as long as you don't heat it too much with the heat gun or a torch). Best of luck finding your sweet spot! I know you'll get there 😉
@NaseemThomas Жыл бұрын
Your technique is amazing 👏 Have you ever used the ocean coat by just resin? It's thick... would you still wait until it gets more thicker?

I so hear you!! I’ve ruined so many pieces by the last steps of the waves!! Cannot tell you how frustrated I was! She makes it look so perfect and with such ease…I could only hope! I think my problem is the resin I use. But then waiting for it to thicken up, then sometimes it just won’t blow out…I feel your pain!!!

Love the waves! I've been struggling to get better defined waves like yours . When you applied the 2nd blue layer, did you make up the white resin (applied at 7 minutes) at the same time so that it had gone "off" for 20 minutes before using? This would make sense to me as I've used white resin immediately after blue and the two just merge into a blob. Any advice would be most welcome, thanks. David

@@Procrastipainter thank you for the advice as I sure as heck would have made the first batch too dark! Question, i tried using some turquoise from another vendor a couple months ago and my wood was a pine, so a bit light yellowish. The turquoise against the light yellow looked very green. Do you have to take into account your backgrounds when judging which colors to use? I noticed you used acacia wood I think....

For sure yes you do! Much more so for the transparent colours. You could always give the pine either a full white paint cover or white wash (So you can still see the wood grain). Just make sure it's water based, not oil.

Hi I was wondering would you mind showing us how to do an acrylic pour and using a torch to create cells? Do you have to add anything to the acrylic first? 😊
@Procrastipainter3 жыл бұрын
Hi Natalie 😊 I haven't done an acrylic pour in years! From memory, I used to add floetrol to the paint to get it the right consistency. Depending on what technique I was doing, I might add treadmill silicone to get cells. I only really used the torch to pop the bubbles. I know there's HEAPS of videos out there on acrylic pouring. I learnt a lot from Christina Welch - she goes live every week so you can ask her questions in real time. Julie Cutts (pouring your heart out) also has heaps of videos, so many different techniques! I've seen Rinske Douna torch her canvas rather close (Dutch pour) to bring out cells. I'm not sure I'd be much help - those artists have clearly mastered acrylic pouring 😉 I'd consider myself novice at best!
