We continue with the second video in this series of tutorials to learn how to repaint Dragon Ball Z figures, in this case purchased on Aliexpress.
In this video I will discuss some tricks and practical tips that will come in handy when you start painting, such as the DIY wet palette, the leading program for image references (Pure Ref), etc., etc..

Hola!! me encontre tu cuenta por casualidad y que bueno este video. Muy util, yo estoy empenzando es este mundo del repintado y he tomado varios tips! veo que haces unos trabajos de pintura increibles, espero llegar a ese nivel algun dia. Hola amigo!! Me alegro que me hagas esa pregunta, es un tema que puedo tratar en mis vídeos, gracias!! Brevemente te puedo decir que compres pinturas acrílicas de la marca Vallejo, porque es la que yo y muchos artista gastan, pero hay otras marcas que también son igual de válidas. Respecto a Vallejo, por lo general yo compraría de la gama "Game Color", excepto algún que otro color que sería de la gama "Model Color". Exactamente que colores comprar es más complicado, porque depende de la figura que vayas a pintar, necesitarás unos u otros colores. Intentaré hacer un video para comentar los colores que yo principalmente gasto, porque tengo seguramente como 100 botes, pero igual me sobran 80 jajaja ..con 10-20 botes te sobra para pintar muchas figuras. Lo del efecto mate, te recomiendo este que te protección de poliuretano: acrylicosvallejo.com/producto/modelismo/productos-auxiliares-modelismo/barniz-poliuretano-mate/ capas finas con aerografo ;) Un saludo amigo y gracias por comentar!

Hello, thank you for these amazing video tutorials. I am inspired by your passion and I have decided to start too 😅. I have bought some products in order to start this new hobby: 1 - some general purpose acrylic colours (these are not specific for airbrush since are for generic painting with acrylic colours and are cheaper than those) 2 - airbrush 3 - Vallejo primer white 4 - Vallejo thinner 5 - some “cheap” brushes with different size 6 - some dragonball statue as in your tutorials My questions are : a) Can I diluite my acrylic colours in order to be used with the airbrush (water? Thinner ? Other specific product?) some articles and tutorials on Internet specify that acrylic colours can be diluted in order to be used with the airbrush ( I have some worries doing that because I could clog the airbrush) b)when I have to use the thinner ? c) regarding the primer, I can use it directly with the airbrush or I have to diluite it in advance with some products (water? Thinner ? ) before to use it with the airbrush ? d) should I buy something else to follow your tutorials ? e) do you have any other suggestions ? Thank you for your support !

Hello my friend! Thank's to you for watching my videos!! Ok I will try to help you. First, about the acrylic colours, I would recomend you to buy one of the Miniatures painting brands, just because they are specific for that. You don't have to buy specific por Airbrush, but I would recomend you to buy the normal ones, but from the typical brands like: Vallejo, AK, Green Stuff, etc.. The problem with some of the cheap paints is, that most of them doesn't cover with one stroke, so you have to give 3, 4 or more coats to do the same job that the other brands does. Try yours, and if it doesn't cover, buy some frome the other brands. A)Yes, you should diluite the colours to be used with the airbrush, most of them works only with water, but I don't know why, but others doesn't diluete well only with water, so you will need some Thinner drops. But first try with water. Airbrush is not easy on the begining, you gonna have to fight with it a lot, I recomend you to buy a cheap one on the begining, even at the end hahaha, it's good enough for the job we do repainting dragon ball figures. B) I'm not expert on that, I've seen thousands of tutorials about it and there are many different opinions. I use it mainly airbrush when I've to use primer and Varnish. I will do tutorials of it ;) C)Mix it with water and thinner, don't go to crazy with thinner and water, because it doesn't gonna work the primmer, and you gonna have to prime 4 times! It's a matter of trying and seeing whats happen. On the begining you can try for example: 70% primmer and 20% watter and 10% thinner. D) IF you don't want to spent too much money on the begining, you can skip the Airbrush, some other people prime the figures with brush or spray, spray is very expensive. E) Nope, you have all you need, just take it easy, it takes time to get used with the brushes and all this stuff. If you never painted before you will see what I mean, you gonna paint ultra slow, you gonna have fear to stroke the figure with the brush, even mixing colors, IT IS NORMAL. Don't take the first figures too serious or you never gonna finish it and you never gonna be satisfied, you have to finish figures, no matter the quality, quality will come with the time. Try with a simple one and have fun!!

Here some comments: A) Regarding the acrylic colours, since i am a beginner i bought the cheapest ones since i don't know how difficult will be this hobby and for these reasons i decided to buy a starter kit that is not expensive. Of course, if this hobby will became a strong passion i will buy the brand that you suggested ( Do you have some websites that sell it at a good price?) B) I have watched several videos on thinner and i have several questions on when i should use the thinner and when not. A video tutorial on this made by you will be amazing :) C) It seems that i should use few drops of water and thinner, is it the correct quantity to mix with acrylic colours ? D) I have bought a cheap one on amazon just to start. Last question: in order to improve my skills, can I re-paint the same statue (starting with prime and then painting it again ) or I should buy the same statue multiple times ? Thank you so much !!

Anyway if you see, that your paints doesn't cover good enough, you should change for a good brand, like AK, Vallejo, etc...About shops no matter which, the close and cheapest you have, I allways buy online in Spain. About the thinner for the paints, I use it just in case the water doesn't work, then I use some drops of thinner, rest of the cases always water. About your last question, I had the same quuestion on the beggining, and another experienced painter recomends to NOT do that, because you can't compare your progression. You can do it, nothing's gonna happen, but you'r not gonna be able to check if you are doing it better. Hola amigo! Pues principalmente de Instagram, me voy a los instagrams de los artistas que más me gustan, como Taka Company y Lyk repaint, busco las referencias que más me gusten, en este caso por ej., no tiene porqué ser la misma figura de Goku, con que se le asemeje me sobra, hago capturas de pantalla desde el móvil o PC y me las pego en el PC en el Programa Pure Ref ✌️.
