I have learned both, but not used either of these techniques very much over the years. I used to see beautiful filet crochet curtain patterns in the magazines and drool over them. But with over 200 sq. of window area to cover, in cotton thread, on a very small hook? I never got up enough ambition and courage to making them. A shawl like this is much more inspiring and achievable for me.

No, I never worked mosaic crochet yet, but I need to try it. Your videos are so inspirering and helpful. When I was a child, croched works locked soooo old fashioned to me. But these extraordinary techniques you are explaining to us, are absolutely different. Crocheting patterns from your team are so modern, chic and spezialisiert. I LOVE!!!!

I have never worked with a mosaic pattern. I’ve been looking at them lately. I have over the past few months used fingering weight yarn. I’ve been busy making a cardigan and I’m been looking at the mosaic designs to find one I would like to incorporate. Side note: I watch bag-o-day crochet and today she mentioned your yarn and placed it at #2 for her favorite yarn. She was showing some yarn she got from you and a shawl she made with it. I’ve made several afghans that use a variety of stitches, including ones that were worked similarly to this mosaic stitch (but the designers never called it mosaic stitch). Love the beautiful design of this shawl and this will definitely be added to my list of future makes. Thank you for the tutorial, the free pattern and the giveaway opportunity.

Never had opportunity to work filet. Absolutely love mosaic crochet. P. S. If you lock the stitches in the back the work becomes reversible - no loose flaps. - Your shawls are beautiful as are your yarns.

I like both methods, but for this pattern I lean toward the reversible. Another beautiful shawl and the yarn is amazing! I've used that yarn base for the Laiken shawl that I gave to my niece.Such beautiful colors. I've never done Mosiac crochet. I HAVE done filet crochet, and I love it. I crochet with cotton thread a lot, making doilies. I love Mosiac crochet and definitely want to learn. But I'm very nervous about learning it. I love crocheting with #20 thin threads and fingering yarns. For some crazy reason, I love to do tedious detail work. I've recently started back crocheting scarves & afghans with size 3&4 yarns. I'm enjoying learning more difficult stitches & patterns. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 8 yrs old. I'm 68 now. That's a lot of crocheting!!! I hope I can learn Mosiac crochet!!! TFS! Its a gorgeous shawl. Hugs from Austin TX USA

When I looked at the chart alone, I would have carried both colors, but that is probably fair isle crocheting. I’ve done a few mosaic hats, but not a project a large as this with mosaic crochet. Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern, you have a gift for teaching!

I recently started working on a mosaic crochet project. I like that inset mosaic crochet eliminates having ends to deal with but I find overlay mosaic crochet much easier.
