I need to get the dictionary out quite often. But, the sentence structure is so similar to Spanish, I can make out a great deal. The Pronunciation is amazingly similar. I understood the sentence about the sky being blue when I've never ever looked up the Italian words for blue and sky before. A beautiful language which is a hybrid of French and Spanish.

You're completely right, if you understand Spanish you're gonna learn Italian faster, even Portuguese. If you like languages, you can learn these three languages easily.
