I've struggled with LR many times before, always getting overwhelmed by those mysterious panels and sliders. Your teaching style finally made everything click - thank you for explaining it so clearly! When you mentioned being unsure about the calibration panel (1:05:45), I could totally relate. I recently found Mark Denney's video 'Unlocking Lightroom's Darkest Editing Secret!' which explains the Calibration and HSL panels brilliantly. Between your tutorial and his video, I'm finally feeling confident with LR. Thank you!

Thank you for this comprehensive video . I am a long time LR Classic user and watched it to see if there was anything I didn’t know about I take it that the first stage of your import process is to move the images from camera to a drive / folder outside of LR Classic then pick them to bring into catalog It is far easier to use the right hand library panel ‘destination ‘ create new folder , name it eg with shoot name / date That way LR moves images from source to the folder and populates catalog at sane time When in catalog using X key to reject as you scroll through then at end of that delete all the rejected from disk and LR In the export process create export presets and also use the feature of batching together the export presets
@SignatureEdits11 ай бұрын
Great tips Graham! Personally I never delete rejects from client shoots - Once in a while a client comes back asking for alternates to a group shot, or I didn't notice I picked the wrong one where she has a double chin or lazy eye or something else I just didn't see on the initial cull. Harddrives are cheap, so I just hold onto everything.

Terrific post, Ryan. Super useful content, sprinkled with tips, presented with high energy -- one take (?) maybe two. Clever "cyclops effect" bit.😊 Pic in pic camera follows you as you move about the frame, a nice touch. Color grading was most helpful of the set, IMO. Suggestion: For long vids like this one, add topic time-stamps in description; helps viewers target specifics and get to different subjects easily when viewing the vid again. Loupe = "jeweler's loupe" = magnifying glass used to view film frames against a light box. Analogue throw-back. Question: Ever post a segment showing how to move LR (cat, photos and all) to a new computer, without using cloud storage? Cheers!
@SignatureEdits11 ай бұрын
Ahhhh a jeweler's loupe! Definitely clever throw-back... Although I wish they'd rename it to something that was more obvious / easy to understand ;) EASIEST way to move catalogue is just to export all files as DNG. Then the edits are baked in, and you can transfer those to a harddrive and move onto any computer without having to worry about file locations etc. Plus more storage efficient than non compressed RAW with minimal (if any) loss in quality. Go to export > export with preset > export as DNG There are other ways, but this is by far the most simple.

Hey Ryan! I think Your video will work great for the person just starting out editing in LrC. Unfortunatly I found out that after editing with this software for 3 years I have found my own so called "perfect" workflow so this video was only a veeeery long reminder on things that I already knew before... However I must say that still learned few new thinks and change my perspective on things I already knew about. I also must say that I MADLY appriciate Your attitude towards your viewers (you aren't making fool of them), your positive and full of passion energy towards the subject (I get golden retriever vibes from You and I absolutely love that!) and lasty that you are so natural in what you are doing (no slow-motion like talking and wanting me to go to sleep like tone of voice). So in conclusion I will definitely recommend this tutorial to my friends and family that are just starting out in photography as well as some more advanced editors. I really rearly comment on YT even more so in English because it's not my native tongue, and this comment turned out waaay longer than it should be...just like your video wink wink Peace, love and shorter edit times for You Ryan! P.S. I love Your sense of humour Friend keep up the amazing work with those tutorials!

It is called the Loupe view because back when you used to print a contact sheet, you would use a loupe to view individual images on the page. Using a loupe you would determine which images were worth printing full size.

Worth noting that the auto advance (caps lock) is an incredible little setting when culling a shoot. Hit caps lock, every time you flag a photo as a pick, it advances to the next...I am sure you know this, or possibly cover it later on as I am only 7 mins in but worth mentioning if you didn't!

FWIW I've barely started watching and already I see you've missed the CopyAsDNG-Copy-Move-Add menu at the top when importing. You can use Copy to import files directly from your SD card, it will copy the files you import to the destination you choose in the top right pane. Or use Move, which will also delete them from the SD card (not as safe as Copy).

Watermark doesn't look that professional? 🤣 ok.. I think it depends on how you use the pictures. In my case I don't think so as that is a good way to create a brand and get the name to the viewer and connect it with your own look. But the tutorial I found very interesting as I didn't used the shortcuts until now, except "r" and "x" for coping and change the orientation of a picture. I had to divide the watching into 3 times, also lowering the speed to 0,75 as I´m not a native englisch speaker. Thanks for your Video!
