Hello Rudolph! Just wanted to share my experience putting my backrest covers on my MG seats. I watched your video about 5 times, added foam to the back like you did to prevent bagginess and even added a bit of lumbar support. I then placed a plastic bag over the seat and my cover slid down with ease. Once all the way down I removed the bag by pulling and tearing it out from the front and the back.. Was able to glue the pleated area to the foam inside and secure everything in the same fashion that you did. No rips pulling the cover on. They turned out spectacularly. I’m very pleased with the outcome. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Hi Rudolph. Sorry for the camera malfunction. That's one of the steps I was hoping to see. Your technique for centering the center panel to the cushion so it's perfectly square. But it doesn't look too difficult. The one thing missing from the video that I'm very interested in seeing is how the string from the front corners of the center panel is attached and run through the cushion and tied off on the bottom. Looks to be a heavy nylon string. I have my seat frames stripped and ready to get started. Thanks once again, been liking your videos. Dennis...

That was very valuable information you shared here on resewing the ripped seams. Do you think materials are too thin these days and tear easily?
@oldschoolautoupholstery3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm glad that you enjoyed it! Some of the worst is the cheap Chinese vinyl used in furniture and a lot of the Japanese made cars where the top of the vinyl separates from the cloth backing.

Do you think folding the lower carpet area and sewing it (Not how Mg did it) that caused the excessive tension , you can see the welts pulling at this point where it tore. How did you bold the back to the base after you covered it. They are but and bolted together, how did you get to the nut?

There was not an original seat cover to use as a pattern or guide. With upholstery, there is always more than one way to get it done. By the way, I did not make the seat covers, they were a kit.

you pointed at narrow side for the shifter on the left (if sitting in the seat) and then said the tab is drivers side, did you put the wrong side on or camera flipped since front cam vs back, that always confuses me. how many things have you messed up on and had to rebuy them out of your pocket and did those ones cut into profits or you still had some profit margin just not nearly as much as you used to
