You know what is the best methode to learn language? Just practice. Couple days ago I've started to comment on some russian videos, and I see the progress of my language. It's amazing. The next language I will learn I'm going to try to use in the very begining. It helps not only to collect the new vocabulary, but it makes you more confident to use language in normal life. You have much more expierience in the normal conversation. And don't forget to make "using of the language" the part of your life, everyday.

The most effective method to learn new words (and also to improving your english as well) is to read / listen content that you like more. For example, I love aviation (i'm a spotter) so I watch videos, listen podcasts, read articles and like pages in english about that. It gives you motivation to keep studying English.

Thanks Coach! You are totally right about Passive and Active vocabulary. I personally memorise vocabulary and definitions in case some talks or explains me but not when I read. There is also the main problem is our laziness. We should try use new vocabulary as much as we can on followings days and in different situations. Good luck to all of us who is keen to learn English!

Now I understand why it is really easy for me to understand almost everything you are explaining in your videos although your speaking speed is very fast for me (it must be a normal speed or a bit slower speed for you) : you are trying to use as easy words & expressions as possible as you mentioned in this video. However, I want to add that your way of pronouncing words and speaking is a perfect match to my English listening capability, which has never happened to me with all other English native speakers I have always difficulty to follow when they speak with natural speed... so I am very glad that I discovered your channel a few weeks ago by chance here on KZbin and I really enjoy it watching all your past videos one by one. Thanks Stephanie!

I gave up learning English for 3-4 years when I was a kid In Secondary 2(14 years old), I picked it up by listening rock music and reading lyrics Due to leak of vocabulary, I had to translate the lyrics word by word, and tried to guess the meaning of whole song At first, I was making many mistakes, but I really learnt and memorized vocabulary through it My English getting better bit by bit, then I learnt more from songs, KZbin, even my native speaker friend 10 years later, I form a habit that every time I saw a word which is I don't know/forget the meaning, I checked the dictionary That's how I learn English, make sure I understand most content Eventually I have new passive vocabulary and active vocabulary Nowadays, I don't have big trouble having a conversation with native speaker. I'm grateful for it However, since my mother tongue is way different from English, I still have difficulty in grammar and tenses

Hi Stef... you have great videos and a great speaking... I'm English teacher and your videos are helping me to improve my language level. In Brazil, there is a huge lack of education among the people and serious problems of learning, even in the most of language schools, so I'm trying to solve and using another way of teaching and it's being a surprising experience, because my students are finally understanding English. What I'm doing is personalizing for each student, so I can discover his/her difficulty and work on it to solve the problem.

Hi Stephanie, The Google image tip is very much useful. I do it often when I google the meaning of a word. And I found two more methods that are useful to expand vocabulary: 1. Reading comics - exposes me to a lot of words and phrases in a conversational context and style. 2. Diary / Story writing - this is useful after learning a new word. I use the word while writing the day's proceedings in the diary, as far as possible. I hope these tips too have a great part in developing one's vocabulary.

I learn Franch and Japanese. I uae Douling as well. But the main point I use both English and Ukraine version if the app. I'm native Ukraine speaker, so English itself is a foring language for me. But it is unbelievable, I've noticed again and again that I have learned Franch more quickly and easy than I'd learned English. Whenever what really work for me is TPR method. I like wach children show in Franch and Japanese Although I can't understand show completely It help my pickup isolate part of language and musicallity as well. I also keep learning English by reading book and watching KZbin. My English still aain't brilliant, but decent enough to have fun and have good communication with native English speakers. Still I can understand you coach I've had same problem with English. Fortunately I found my way. I've been learning English all by myself since previously spring. So for 11 months I met successful unexpected in this term. Of course I had, have and, will have mistake, but mistake is necessary for learning. In school we've learned to avoid and to be afraid about having mistakes. So I'm agree with you coach. I prefer British accent, RP accent if be accurate. I like British more, because it souds porsh. And secondary because I have hard time to pronate rolling R sound. I follow for 3 podcast. And yet cockney accent is nightmare. Some English blocks have fun at me by speaking like that. It realy pick me off.

Never cross my mind about this images method... indeed, really good method!! And i just got a chance to use it with a word of this video (cram, cramming). The literal translation of it was something that not fit with what you were talking about. But with images, I was abble to understand what was the meanning of the word!! Thanks, helped a lot

One of my methods how to learn and to notice the vocabulary's is with index cards. That's what I'm using, recently because I had to learn lots of vocabulary's in the last weeks at school.
