I wanted to come on and comment and say thank you. Thank you for taking the time from your life that is just as intricate as ours and teaching us this magical language. It is so beautiful. I am so happy to be learning it and you are THE ONLY person I can follow. The rest are so confusing or don't add in the way you would pronounce them and that is just so selfless of you. I don't think we realize enough how kind it is for people to do these things so thank you so much. I am so proud to be learning gaelic. I can not thank you enough. Also wanted to ask how you learned the language? Were you taught it by family?

It’s the same for Irish Gaelic!

Not quite, Éire is Ireland and Éirinn is only in the dative so 'in Ireland' is 'in Éirinn'. The spelling is the same for Irish person as in Scottish Gaelic only the fada points in the other direction like an acute accent in French.

Yes though the ease depends on the dialect. It's a bit like the relationship between Scandinavian languages. Or Scots and English. Or Swiss German and Standard German. I knew an Irish speaker who'd somehow managed to never hear Scottish Gaelic. She watched a speech by Kate Forbes in Scottish Gaelic in the Scottish Parliament and in her words understood it perfectly. But there are quite strong dialects in both languages.

Yay! First easy one I'm definitely going to remember. I'm thinking if I spent some time amongst Gallic speakers I would pick it up alright so I'm pretty "tollech che" about that.

we return the favour - in gaeilge (irish) we call your country albain, and a scottish person would be albanach!
@Sionnach1601
@Sionnach1601 11 ай бұрын
I thought it was Alba, no? Some grammatical nuances going on there, because it would be "...rud éigin na hAlban" ie a Scottish something or other; agus tá an ceart agat, Albanach is ea a Scottish person, very fine people indeed! Our dear Celtic cousins 😊☘☘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🙏

Ummm Lauren y u separating the two lol u do know Scotland is broken down by the Highlands and/or lowlands or do u not know this? The Highlanders are people expelled from their homelands of Ireland who roamed the Scottish Highlands centuries before n are literally really real irish gaelic Celtic Highlander blooded people..... lowlanders are literally colonizers from England who colonized the lowlands of Scotland and these were really real English anglo saxon germanic blooded protestants.....these same lowlanders were then given land to in northern Ireland called ulster plantation by the queen of England herself.....those same people were known to go to America where they were called scotch Irish even though they had no real Irish or Scottish blood in them at all!!!! If u take a DNA test n if your Irish or Highlander your results will read 78% Ireland/ Scotland....some will even mention Hibernia or Ibernia also as well in the Iberian peninsula region where Galicia,austurias, Basques, areas.....😮 They are same but different,like a Spanish from Spain in comparison to a Hispanic from Mexico or Dominican Republic....etc ty 4 vid!!!

what're you smoking? they're seperated because they're two different languages and two different people's. Highlanders are as Scottish as anyone from the midlands or lowlands Highlanders are just less anglocised. they're not Irish just descendents from Irish (the scotti clan)

@@hadiisaboss5307 bro English colonized lowlands, Irish were expelled to Highlands....if u take a DNA test n u Irish it will say 87% Ireland/Scotland......if u lowlands it will say England/ British isles Anglo ( British isles is a nice way to say u have English n other traces of Welsh etc )......u literally said the same thing as I said but in your sick head tried to say there the same 😂.....look again the root of evil starts n ends with English anglo saxon germanic blooded people, English colonized lowlands and after being in the lowlands these English lowlanders were then given land to in northern Ireland by the queen of England herself.....

The highlanders of Scotland are not Irish people who were expelled from Ireland. There is about 20km separating Ireland and Scotland at their closest points and people have been moving in large numbers across that small stretch of water in both directions since the end of the ice age through the plantation of the 17th century until mass Irish emigration to Scotland in the 19th century. The gaels and gaelic are just part of that long history of linguistic, cultural and population movement between the 2 countries.
