bro, I feel you. My first languages are French and English. I also learned some Spanish from my father. Then I learned Italian from my ex-husband. Afterwards, I learned Chinese (Mandarin), and I thought that it was the toughest language ever. I couldn't understand how any native Chinese speakers could learn English or French, I gained even more respect for people who start life in a foreign land. Now that I am learning Deutsch, Chinese seems like a breeze. German is so fascinating, but so difficult. Germans impress me even more now.

Hi Jenny, in your example with the modal verbs I noticed that the verb was pushed to the end but you did not write muss in its infinitive form, why is that? I know it is different when the tense of the verb changes but I think it was present tense. Thank you Jenny, I really appreciate all your hard work.

This is great. Just recently I thought to myself that it would be great if you covered it. And you did just that! :) Thanks! One question: I understood from this video that "dass" is used in affirmative sentences and questions, while "ob" is used in negatiations?
@lingoniGERMAN
@lingoniGERMAN 8 жыл бұрын
+Petur Valdemarsson You can also use "dass" in negations. Ich habe gehört, dass er gestern nicht zur Besprechung gekommen ist. "ob" is used when there are 2 options: yes or no. ER weiß noch nicht, ob er morgen mitkommen. (He might come or he might not come.)

"Ich bin sauer auf ihn, weil er mich angelogen hat." It looks like auf is being used in the accusative case. Is there a movement in the sentence that makes the preposition auf in the accusative instead of the dative case?
@lingoniGERMAN
@lingoniGERMAN 6 жыл бұрын
there is no movement but we are using the adjective + preposition combo "sauer sein + auf" or "wütend sein + auf" which requires the Accusative Case (something you will have to memorize)

Eine Frage... At 2:00 when you say Ich weiß nicht, ob er morgen zum Training kommt. Should morgen in this sentence not be capitalized? My literary skills are not too great, so if morgen in this sentence isn't a noun I assume it is some kind of grammar thing I just don't know the name of.
@lingoniGERMAN
@lingoniGERMAN 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, no, because "morgen" is an adverb of time here and it means tomorrow. Not to be confused with "der Morgen" which means the morning. i.e. Am Morgen gehen wir schwimmen - In the morning we are going swimming.
