Excellent video, really helpful! Was wondering, when elongating a verb while speaking w/someone you should give respect to, does one drop the 'y' and add 'laa' at the end? So for example, would it be "poringalaa?" or "varalingaa?" And is this for all verbs for the most part?

Thanks for this video. Is the "yaa" at the end of verbs a question mark, or/and is it related to a specific tense ? Here all questions are in the present (continuous). Btw the meaning of "are you coming ?" is for an implied futre thing, so like "will you come?" and "variyaa" is at the future, OR is it a "real" present of action like "are you on your way now ?" (same for "are we going?") There's never an inversion of verbs and subject frm what I grasp, so maybe the -yaa conveys just the interrogation ... In general: would it be a different suffix for questions in past or future tenses ? Like how would you say: "were you talking on the phone?" / "will you talk to the phone?" (make a call later)

Hello anonym . Let me explain ..... 1. The "yaa" is to ask questions and it is the same for all the tenses (past, present, future) . I made this video short as I wanted learners to ask questions so that I can expand on it with answers, or sometimes even with another video . 2. "are you coming ?" (variya?) ..but it is understandably an implied future as it exists in English as well. You got it right 3. There are three possibilities a) " nee variyaa?" b) variyaa nee ? ( the inversion you mentioned is equally used ) c ) variyaa? ( omoting the subject as in most Indian languages the subject is not always used d) varE? that is omitting the "yaa" and ending the E with a raising intonation similar to "coming?" I was expecting people to ask questions and grow curious and thereby I could be making videos . However I think youtube is not reaching out to enough learners , or probaby these type of videos are not enough for a learners. I have slowed down as it is taking loads of time. The best way forward is to make videos and supplement that in a blog or website where there will be a lot of examples , discussions, exercises. If a video has 10 examples, I can have 50 examples in a blog extension . I am glad you asked these questions and I shall make one of the following videos based on what you wished to get clarified. By the by , are you a native English living overseas. Just an interest to know how far these videos are reaching. Best wishes a

@@LEARNTAMIL1 First, thank you so much for your clear and detailed answer to my question, and also of course for the loads of videos you make. Don't think it's not helping or too light content for a beginer learner, it's perfect. You made like 100+ videos to help strangers learn tamil for free, this is just the 10th, so I don't expect an in-depth course. I actually think that youtube is indeed a vulgarization an broadcasting tool different from a classic course ... Not the same public, but you content surely attracts mre people than intense classes, especially for self-learners and because it's reachable on youtube etc. Secondly, I understood perfectly. Thank you again. Comments can be used for next viewers too. ;) Finally, no I'm French. My loved one is a Tamilian, I know I'll eventually have to go to TN to meet his family so learning the language would help ... :)

@@anonymcomment5864 All the best and your reason for learning Thamizh has a reason too. I have lived a stretch of my life in France and hence I have a French side in me and my ideas flow through comparing French , English and Tamil . And all the best with all other endeavors.

nee means you and unakku means also you ? when to use what ? why not "neenga ishtam irukkaa ?"
@LEARNTAMIL1
@LEARNTAMIL1 4 жыл бұрын
nee means you . and unakku means for you. neenga ishtam irukkaa is not correct. In indian languages we have a phrasing style say..unakkU + for you(or) in you , ishtam irukkaa? is there interest? unakku ishatam irukkaa = in you ,, is there interest? Hope that helps... if you check my other videos you can get a good grasp. it is not difficult at all . Dont expect to understand 100 percent as it is not maths . you can learn even 60 percent of each video and it will grow amazingly well in you

yesssss I appreciate your pointing out of that. I need to give more substantial information in each of the description that will link the videos back and forth . It takes a crazy amount of time to even make a video and I think you and a couple of others are the only one watching the videos. This type of learning does not appeal to many and hence I am limiting my time . I will try to get more interactive if these videos gain traction , as I need someone to help me out with these tech stuffs . Thank you again , and hope you learnt something . Best wishes,
