Well done. Let the Journey of The Tarot begin. I'll be watching how you journey through this lovely deck. My journey is a little different. But, that's alright. I use the the Major (starting with the Fool) and travel through combining both major and minor together. Pages with the Magician, Knights with the Chariot, Queens with the Empress and Kings with the Emperor. With the number cards corresponding.

I have stumbled across this playlist and have thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 lessons. I will continue as I find your approach to teaching is welcoming and easy to understand. I'm in my fifties and bought my first tarot deck as an eleven year old - the S1JJ -but I spent most of my time trying to hide them from my parents. In my twenties I started to explore the Tarot further using The Mythic Tarot up until my early thirties when I packed them away for over 2 decades. The spark was reignited a few years ago when I unpacked a box to discover my old decks. I could not find books which used those decks , so I purchased my first RWS deck to study. I'm even happier now I have found your playlist. Thank you !!!!

Wow, this is so interesting! I haven't worked with the court cards as representatives for actual people to date. What I have done is ... working with meanings and "energies". In that way ... any card can represent a person. In context the cards themselves do indicate whether they are meant to be read as a person or not. Major arcana and court cards just being more likely to do so. Using court cards as people ... hmm ... the deck one is using seems to make a huge difference. (Take ... for example "The Witches' Wisdom Tarot" ... that uses messenger [page], witch [knight], craftsman [queen] and godess [king] as court cards... with at least 2, sometimes 3 court cards being female). There are a lot of thetic meanings in the cards. Framed by conventions and their respective creators. In the case of Marseilles it bears the philosophy of Marsilio Ficino. Thoth is obviously heavily influenced by Crowley's world view. Now I get why it's so very important to just use cards that resonate and being to be able to deal with cards to which there is connection to a lesser degree. I also understand the benefit and disadvantage of pip cards: There are no fixed (yet flexible) stories to work with.

I hadn't thought of Pentacles like that to be honest, but yes, I suppose you could interpret them like that. I tend to view the whole deck as reflecting what we value as good or evil. Each card has its light and dark aspects (upright or reversal if you use that technique) so I feel good or evil is represented right across the spectrum of experience, the elements, personality types and the higher realities of the Major Arcana. The upright or reversed pentagram as shown on the pentacles of many decks is a powerful symbol of good vs evil but I would still prefer the broader perspective of the whole deck. Hope this helps.

I suggest following the sequence of the course and beginning with the Minor Arcana first, followed by the Court Cards, then the Major Arcana. I've always found this gives people a much firmer grasp of how the tarot deck works as a whole.
