There is so much garbage sold as a quick fix…nothing replaces lots of time and study. Thank you for pointing out that improvising isn’t the same as knowing a bunch of shapes.

Good stuff here for real.... I look at CAGE as a good starting point/intr for learning how to navigate the neck and discover there are many systems that do exist. From there you can expand your knowledge accordingly. Guitar can be a mofo.

Goodness, so much unnecessary meta born out of things that never got me the sounds I was looking for. Not all of us use five positions and even when we do, the translation step is of dubious necessity. Congrats on getting through doing a CAGED video, Chase! 😂 Cheers, Daniel

Good morning, I'm Vincenzo, an Italian Who lives in Nl . I always follow his channel, his truly professional channel! I would like some advice: I would like to change the volume and tone potentiometers (which don't work properly), of my jazz guitar bought used (Ibanez AFJ81), with only one Seymour Duncan SH-2N pickup. I would like to’ buy 2 quality potentiometers that fit there. What do you advise me?

Hi Vincenzo, I think you should find a good guitar tech near you who can properly advise you. I don’t have any expertise in this area 👍

I would respectfully suggest amending your C CAGED examples to root position without open strings to really understand the shapes (like your G and D examples.). For example the C shape would be frets 15 - 14 - 12 - 13 - 12 starting on the same fifth string to reflect its associated fingering challenges. The A shape should start with the root, third fret of the fifth string. The E shape should also start with the root, eighth fret of the sixth string. Just a friendly suggestion. Thanks for another great video!

Ahhhhh….at last!!. I started guitar 2 years ago but also started with Jazz rather than rock. The CAGED system ‘helped’..but not as much as I would have liked. This put a few more puzzle pieces into place for me. I’ll be watching this video over and over and over again for a while. Thank you!!
