Used to do this on the bicycle, will have to try it out on the ADV. Thanks!

Thanks for your nice and good movies. I use my GSA every day to drive at work and get of it that way, except that I'm not turning him off and never thought about kicking off the sight stand. Let's try that one of thes days.

What about the converse rolling mount and take off?
@heesface6 жыл бұрын
We call it the “Gaston Rahier” dismount. Gaston Rahier is a French adventure biker who was too short for his bike to dismount. So he invented this dismount so his bike wouldn’t fall if he dismounted it. An other advantage is that this (dis)mount uses less energy than a usual (dis)mount. If you start practicing this it’s important too look far in front of you when you dismount so you keep your balance. Don’t look down! You can also practice it the other way around: riding off like this.
@wfodavid5 жыл бұрын
Gaston began his riding career in motocross and was 125 World Champion. We lost him at a very young 58 in 2009.

Oh, man, am I glad I found this channel. Really fantastic and useful videos. Practiced the rolling dismount and the pole stop today, and they both really helped my confidence with the bike. One question for you, though: What is that side stand? The stock one barely sticks out far enough for me to get it down while doing the rolling dismount.

Dave George you see on the bike I move forward on my heel so I can click it with my toes. My Triumph Tiger and 800GS were different.

In 1976 a very good friend of mine put his Honda CB250G5 into the side of a garage to do just this. He never tried it again after ending up in a crumpled heap. I wonder where he is now....

Cool i guess its possible with any bike but i have a versys 650 and the side stand is very close to se to the bike. Some times hard to kick it out while still sitting :)
@BretTkacs7 жыл бұрын
don't sit. If you look carefully you can see on the R12GS i have to move onto my left heel so I can reach it with a toe to flick it out.

@shrory7 жыл бұрын
In what situation would you use this?
@MOTOTREK7 жыл бұрын
I use it when I step down on to low ground, when I want to make a quick dismount or just to look good. Since I teach and guide for a living I often step off in a hurry to coach or assist riders. However the greatest advantage of this skill is the development of the fine motor controls over the clutch and brake and the confidence gained in understanding and mastering the motorcycles balance. Bret~
@BretTkacs7 жыл бұрын
besides just building control and confidence I mostly use this on trails where I don't have room to put down a side stand or the ground is questionable
@albertptran7 жыл бұрын
lol these poser skills are too much for me. I just hop off to one side then get the kickstand down

Let's see... you execute this poser skill, moving to the side of your bike, where your balance and control is now limited, and you do this right next to a cliff's edge. Huh? Why would you do that? I've been on my bike when a slightly skewed road surface flung my bike wildly (and quite unexpectedly). Examination of the portion of road surface didn't yield any alarming observations. Sometimes the actual skewing of the road cannot be fully appreciated due to surrounding landscape. Anyway, I digress.... and circle back to my point: Why would you execute this trick right next to a cliff's edge? Otherwise, great videos--love them! Keep up the video production!
