I used to do the vault method a little differently: put motorcycle on center stand, run the engine, go behind bike and do the vault jump. If done correctly, the momentum of jumping into saddle throws the bike off center stand, you immediately pull the clutch and put in the 1st gear and drive away without putting any leg on the ground at all. Takes a little practice, but looks real classy, when done right.

I usually park my bike on the centrestand. So I climb on, start it, put it in gear, stand up on the pegs, rock back and then rock forward to bring it off the centre stand while revving and letting the clutch. Ride off without touching the ground. May as well call it the Rock and roll.

I prefer the Tarzan mount where I swing out of a tree and mount the bike as I let go of the rope/vine I'm swinging on. (Extra style points if you use the forward momentum to drive the kickstand up while hitting the engine start button.)

The classic approach doesn't always work with luggage (or passengers). :) Instead people just kick their leg over the tank-part of the seat. Maybe that can be the "Karate Kid" version?! Maybe also do a video on dismounting, e.g. like the Johnny Walker, etc. Love the channel, keep up the good work.

I pivot off my right leg and swing my left leg over the bike, because the kickstand in then on the downside and I can't fuck up and knock the bike over by mistake. I'm also lefthanded and it feels completely normal to pivot off my right foot. I'm 67 and got my motorcycle license in 1970.

Don’t forget ‘The Hog Rider’. Approach the bike, stand on the left foot peg. Used all of your strength to lift yourself up to straighten the left leg. Heave your right cankle over the seat, which is lowered because of your inflexible hamstrings. Then drop your huge gut onto the tank, blocking any view of the instruments. Finally reach up for the ape-hangers and grin because you think that you are a badass even though you so aren’t..

If you’re left handed getting on from the right feels more natural. I had to train myself to get on from the left hand side. There is no safety issue, the kickstand is well and truly up to the task.

Bra, I'm an outoppie who can't lift his leg above the saddle, so I use the Saddle-Shuffle(TM); put my knee on the saddle, and twist my leg until it drops off the other side. This got super tricky on a Husky 701 Enduro the other day when I could almost not get my knee on the saddle.

“The controversial” is useful when you have to pull off to the side of the road and cars are whizzing by on the side you’d normally mount/dismount from. That’s why motor officers mount from that side. At least that’s the case here in the states.
