I have a very old Saxon last name, it's almost literally Ethel and Ing.

Awesome, I’ve a Saxon last name as well which cracks me up as my saxon heritage is minuscule.

@@EihwazInitiations I've been digging into my family heritage lately and turns out my ancestors on my paternal grandfather's side have resided in a small specific area of Lower Saxony for a very, very long time. It also shows in my DNA. The first written account of my surname is from 1440, but they had been there for many centuries already. Fun fact: everyone in the world with the same last name as me is my direct relative and we all originated from the same little region called Westerwolde in Groningen, the Netherlands. They were of high status in that small isolated Saxon community because my clan decided to settle permanently in a spot, build a farm and successfully work the lands around it, procuring a certain wealth and power. That village still exists. We're basically ancient Lower Saxon royalty 😂😂😂, that's literally the meaning of my surname. Thanks for making this video, I love researching this stuff!
