Excellent! Stay tuned and I’ll be putting something together, regarding the language. When you’re done pondering what I brought up re read the völuspa, there’s more, these are just my favorite examples.

I would like to learn Icelandic. I am studying Old Norse now with medieval reconstructed pronunciation so I think I won’t get too confused, lol, Thank you for sharing your experiences with seiðr and útiseta - as well as tying them into Vǫluspá. And I haven’t encountered dwarves yet.
@EihwazInitiations4 жыл бұрын
+Merissa Lovett you’ll meet some dwarves sooner than later. What resources are you using to learn ON?

I've been thinking about learning Old Norse and I've tried contacting the dwarves before, but didn't have any luck. Still working on intent in my journeying, but I finally saw one when I was looking for Odin in a journey, ironically, and he was sitting in a stone throne up in the mountains where I found Odin. I had been looking in Svartalfheim and I found one up in some mountains. Didn't say anything to me, but I have to get back to trying to contact them eventually

+Dave Anderson intent is key, but if you’re looking for dwarves you’re sure to find them in Nidvallir, first you gotta get there.
@kiltedlover4 жыл бұрын
@@EihwazInitiations Kurt has me working on intent. I'm getting better at it. I learned how to journey by accident. I received a vision and then tried using the bindrune that was sent to me that put me into a vision and it worked twice in a row. Now I'm using drums to journey with as well. I'm still learning to fine tune and use intent, though sometimes it's spontaneous and takes on a life of its own. Sometimes I know I'm meant to see certain things regardless of where I want to go.

Dave, in my experience intent gets you to the start of the journey, but once there you really only control you and yourself.

I’ll be getting after it again in a couple weeks, between work and the homestead I’m running a bit ragged, I did recently do a 4 week challenge to learn the Anglo Saxon runes...

Great video. Dwarf, Norse dvergr, female form dyrgja from: dyrr ( door) and gja ( opening in the ground). So I guess dwarf was perhaps originally a name for the entrance to the burial mounds, a place where our ancient forebears placed the bodies of there dead. I don't really see the Völuspá as a creation story, just because there was no linear world view in ancient Europe more so circular no beginning no end, everything in nature repeats itself. And when you look at Norse/ Germanic mythology it really acknowledges it.
@EihwazInitiations4 жыл бұрын
+Finnleifi ᛟᚷᛊ I agree with the circular nature but it does describe A beginning then an end and the start to the next lap. Interesting thought about the etymology of dwarf.

@@EihwazInitiations ,yes that's true. I guess I'm just partial to eradicating any christian influence in the poem that some scholars have theories on.

I think it a great idea to be able to read directly from the source. Everyone interprets through a different lens. As I mentioned in th FB group... I wonder at how much of the story as we have it was altered by the Christians that wrote it down?
@EihwazInitiations4 жыл бұрын
+VanNessFam4 definitely being able to read it first hand makes a huge difference, even the translators leave their mark as they all seem to differ in significant ways.
