What really helped was you showing exactly where to put the hook in the first 2 chains. I was putting my hook in the top loop of the second chain and it made the remaining stitches difficult so I didn't bother. Putting the hook in the bottom loop of the beg ch2 really made a difference to my following stitches. Thank you!

Your video saved me thank you! I had to scrap a blanket because of chain tension issues and I wanted to learn this new method for my foundation.. I have tried three videos! I was about to give up but you came to the rescue. The part about having two loops was very helpful and holding it against the needle, I crochet left handed so learning from videos can be frustrating but you gave me tools to figure it out. Hi Heather! It's a handy foundation for a lot of projects :) You might want to try our Moss Stitch Dishcloth with this as a foundation row rather than the chains - it's a good bit of practice :)

Hi Carol! The trick it to count at the end of every row. A good pattern will indicate how many stitches you should have at the end of each row and it is very important to count and make sure you've got the right number! If you don't then it's easy to fix that row rather than get many rows ahead and then discover your mistake. If you're over, you may have crocheted into the same stitch or space more than once. If you're under, you may have skipped a stitch or space. Counting at the end of each row will let you know if you're good to move on or not and allow you to look back through the row and see where you may have added/missed a stitch - which is usually easier to see when there isn't another row of stitches on top of it :)

HI Nikki, the first stitch is the one that is a bit different than the rest, so as long as you get the number of stitches you want or need, then it's fine!

Wow, wow, wow!!! Forget chaining one hundred, this is it, my go to beginning row from now on. I was enlightened about this technique a month or so ago. I have attempted this stitch viewing many tutorials. Thank you so much for your excellent explanation and demonstration. I have finally conquered the chainless method with your kind clear instruction. Thank you Jayda 😘💜 Now that I've gotten a grip on this technique, I just realized I won't be turning my work. What? I'm a lefty, I do fairly well
