I've been studying for about 2 months online now, and one thing I'm stuck on is how to pronounce the "gy" sound, especially like in "hogy vagy" any tips on that?

Rather than like a dominant English soft "g" I suggest you pronounce "gy" like a combined light "d" and "j". It's hard though.
@oliverd14696 жыл бұрын
That's easy. According to the International Phonetic Alphabet, a phonetic notation for the Hungarian letter ''Gy'' is the phoneme /ɟ/. This phoneme /ɟ/ (Voiced palatal stop), represents a different sound, and should not to be mixed up with the phoneme [dʒ], which represents the English letters "J", and sometimes "G". The Hungarian "Gy" sound which is represented by the phoneme /ɟ/, can be found in Slavic languages as well. For example in Macedonian language it is the letter "Ѓ", in Serbian language the letter "ђ", in Russian - the letter Г when palatalized (when precedes a Soft vowel) and so on... I`m a Slavic speaking guy, and in Hungarian language I found little confusing the pronunciation of the vowels, especially the vowels E and É ...
