Ironically, this proves Hikaru is not a proud owner of the e4 course, because any proud owner after 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. f4 d5 4. fxe5 Nxe4 would suggest to proceed 5. Qf3

At 2:57 I recommend looking at the game Ost-Hansen v John Nunn played in a 1974 tournement in the UK. It's a spectacular example of sustained attacking play by John Nunn in this crazy line of the Vienna and the best example I know of how to work Black's compensation for his sacrifice of the exchange. There are a number of KZbin versions of the game that are generally available.

I'm a little surprised Hikaru is discouraging the position at 17:00. Opening books will call this line the Steinitz Gambit, but Hikaru fans can think of it as a Bong Cloud Deferred, with the critical continuation after d4 being Qh4+ Ke2. From here Black has three main responses, those being d6, d5, and b6, and an ultra messy game can be expected regardless of which move he chooses. I'd imagine this line won't work at the GM level, and Stockfish would probably refute it. However, club level players with an talent for finding tactics in wild positions should score quite well with it, and at the very least the game won't be boring.
