@@JonBishopSkate looking forward to it! I'll have to see if I can find a skatepark around here somewhere so that I can hurt myself in new exciting ways!

I had a look on t'net when I thought I was coming out for a visit and Lefkas skatepark is everything you'd imagine it to be !! Surly the WW mini ramp is a must for those light wind days in 40 degrees??

Love this I recently got back on the skateboard after 16 years. I’ve always loved doing the old bert slides on banks.

I think that surfer in the yellow board is Michael February from Cape Town.

Bs bertslides are soo fun. Sometimes I like to use them to quickly turn the opposite direction or go switch on street. PS. I’m horrible at bs reverts.

If skating is surfing on land, that first try was bodysurfing on land!

Hey Jon, great vid thanks- I will be trying these next time out! We met early in the morning at concrete waves earlier this month and you had some great tips then. Also what wrist guards are you using? Cheers, Ben
@JonBishopSkate5 жыл бұрын
Nice one Ben, yes great session at CW that. Loved it. Be great to see a vid of how you get on and if any of the ideas in here help. They are only my feelings and the way I do it, so perhaps you'll come up with a fresh few tips!! I use the Demon X D30 wrist guards. The D30 padding is the key for me as it's really good for dissipating the shock. I have tested them extensively and they have saved the day during numerous mishaps. I'm on my second pair as the sliders and front bits wear away if you use them as much as me lol !!

Oh I meant to ask how long is this board deck and how wide is it? Thanks for ur videos man

Boi hey dude, it’s 9.5 wide and 32 long with a 15inch WB

Dude, this video was really helpful! What skills did you have before learning this? I only have kick turns and rock to fakie, but I want to try this!!
@JonBishopSkate4 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, yeah this was the first vid I made so at this point I could kick turn and carve grind, perhaps the odd rock to Fakie? You don’t really need to be able to do any other tricks first I recon. Perhaps a power slide, but I couldn’t do those before I started trying ? I started skating after watching ‘Dog Town and Z Boys’ so the Bert Slide was top of my list of things to learn !!

kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2m8n4JmbLuVnZo Here is a vid on the frontside version. It’s got more detail and variations to try, some people find the F/S easier, it looks slightly more stylish than the B/S version IMO ??

What kind of board is that? Is that an old skool vert board style? I notice your nose is pointed but your tail is a little wide! Just wondering :)
@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dude It’s a 9.5 inch wide deck made by Cape Town Skates. The concave and shape is inspired by those 80’s vert and bowl shapes (good spot)

@@JonBishopSkate damn 9.5? That's big! How do you prefer the 9.5 to other boards? Thank you for your time Jon :)

@@coggearalex hey dude, this was filmed over a year ago so I’ve moved down to a 9inch now. If you like I run through the boards I’ve progressed through since I started so you can get more info and a closer look should you wish??
