These videos are SO MUCH more useful than some pro who can do it perfectly telling me how it's done. Seeing the progression and minor adjustments you make to get past certain plateaus is something I can actually relate to and compare to where I'm at in the progression. Nothing against the really good skaters, but when they reach a certain level of expertise they forget to mention all the stages of progression that got them to where they're at.

Good on ya Jon for showing the whole process, including the ones where you're still learning. They're super helpful, cheers. I got into skating taking my kids out this summer, and I'm loving it. Woop woop ✌️

Hey Jon. Just found your channel and it's really inspiring. I have skateboarded since I was a little kid but only on and off and cruising around. My attempts on doing it seriously where never of a lot of consistence. I could ollie a little and landed a kickflip every once in a blue moon. A few years ago I discovered bowl skating but injured my meniscus on a rock to fakie gone bad. Now, 4 years later and in my now mid 30s I am willing to try again. I really enjoy your videos and your approach to new tricks. Also your progression steps really help and motivate. Now I just need the skateparks to open again since I don't have a backyard to build a miniramp in. Keep bringing that content.

Go for it, I did my ACL learning to drop in, both ankles twice plus my shoulder ain’t too happy lol, can’t leave it alone though, totally love it and can’t wait to see what’s next !! My local skatepark is 30 minutes away and only has a 5 foot mini ramp and 10 foot big ramps. Outside and metal. So im terrified of all of this, hope to see some sick ramps like that in my area soon.
@philipbarber79052 жыл бұрын
Sick mate. I can axel in. I am going for it tomorrow. I still can't rock to fakie, take my back foot off. Driving me nuts. Got a move on and come back to it. Thanks for the pointers. Gold!

Great video, Jon. Well explained and good editing as well. I’d be interested to see how you get on trying this on the 4ft. I found it really different, weirdly. Nice to see the Mullen get some airtime on KZbin too 👍🏻
@JonBishopSkate5 жыл бұрын
Greg West thanks Greg, yes my next mission is to nail the 4 foot, offered it up a few times and it does feel different? Perhaps I’ll do a part 2 focussed on bigger ramps and variations, been working on pivoting to tail for the re-entry? Boardslide one is going up today hopefully
@markrivers41794 жыл бұрын
Gonna try these tomorrow Bish..I havent yet gotten on top of any coping other than a Rock Fakie so I am apprehensive but really excited to try them I will let you know how I get on
@JonBishopSkate4 жыл бұрын
Mark Rivers try them on a flat bank first, just to get a feel of the pump and pivot and then the back foot pressure coming back in. You don’t even have to do it on the lip of a flat bank to start with. It’ll fell like a kick turn only with a breather half way through. Go up turn 90 for the stall and then another 90 to come back in!
@markrivers41794 жыл бұрын
@@JonBishopSkate Yeh I have tried them on a flat bank and was pretty successful with them so next step is a ramp with coping..regarding the back wheels do they roll over the coping once you manual past with the front wheels?
@JonBishopSkate4 жыл бұрын
Mark Rivers yeah go straight up, manual and as you feel the back wheel hit the coping pivot round and stand up on it.

Jon, revisiting this video... what's the thoughts on getting up into the stall on a high ramp, even vert? it's sci fi to me! I feel it's almost a case of 'willing' yourself up there.

Nice work man. This a a trick i'm trying to work on. I'm just struggling to actually get on top of the ramp fully. My axles are always still on the inside of the ramp.Do you have any tips for this?
@JonBishopSkate4 жыл бұрын
AM Skateboards cool dude, yes go straight up vertical (this may actually feel like you are going back on yourself to start with?!!) put all your weight on the back foot and get a good manual by bending the front knee up, use the turn on the coping to provide the centrifugal force to pivot you on top. To start with you may find you pop right out on top, from there it’s a case of having the confidence to visualise standing right on the coping which requires a little effort than you think. The position I end up with here where the back wheel just hooks over ready to come bank in is what you are aiming for. It has taken me a solid chunk of time to get these going on bigger sections and I’m still nowhere near where I’d like to be? it’s one of those tricks that hasn’t come naturally to me and I’ve had to be ultra patient !!
@amskateboards4 жыл бұрын
@@JonBishopSkate thanks for the tips.

AM Skateboards let me know how you get on??!!
@matg9184 жыл бұрын
I’m having the same issue. Can get the axles up on to the coping but can’t get into the standing position and always end up just running back into the ramp. Will give your tips a try tomorrow!

Which skatepark is this? Also I have a lot of trouble getting up and on the coping, like I always end up completely under it Edit: it literally says it in the description 😒
@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Ha, yeah it’s a hard one to commit to and stand up on top of, it’s a case of learning to trust that the lock in will hold 😟
