This video was the catalyst for being totally obsessed with doing Bert slides, only difference Jon is I do them on a bank with a curb and throw in a grind, love em. Thanks for the inspiration, mate.

That bank is perfect for this. Awesome style trick. I think grinding the top of that is pretty cool too.

Adventures in Skateboarding At 40 Plus many thanks for tuning in Dude! Yes, it’s a cracking bank for such capers, a normal bank is ace, but doesn’t offer the option to try the grind??!!

I've been trying Bert slides but my wheels blue kryptonics do not break into a slide do you use a harder wheel? Great videos🤙 Cheers kev
@JonBishopSkate5 жыл бұрын
Hi Kev, many thanks for tuning in!! Yes my set up here is OJ Team Riders 97a, I believe your Blue Kryp’s are 82a so a touch softer and the contact patch is wide also. They would definitely be harder to slide, but you should be able to break them out on polished concrete, but harder wheels would definitely be easier!! Let me know how you get on !!
@Dick674 жыл бұрын
@@JonBishopSkate I find the wheel profile also has a big impact - wheels with rounded edges are a lot easier to break traction, smoothly and controlled. But when you have sharp edged wheels, they want to dig in and hang on til the last second, then if they do slide its all at once - plus they don't want to gradually get back in line. Sharp edges are more likely to bite and spit you off. Great for 4-on-the-floor carving, though.

Not sure if It is my heavy but or my stiff ankles but I always fall backwards. Any recomendation?
@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Hey dude, yeah it’s a knee bender this one. A good look round with the head and a tuck up with knees and it should come together. It’s a tough one as there are a few key things that need to happen for it to work?
@coggearalex3 жыл бұрын
Hey bro! I got some OJ 56mm 99a, and you said yours were 97a. Did they flatspot at all? I wanna try this on those wheels but can't afford to go through too many wheels haha ^^
@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dude Yeah, All good for the no flat spot with the OJ. They will flat spot if you come straight down the transition sideways like a snowboard slide, but as long as the board is in some way travelling forwards, even by the smallest bit it’ll be fine??!
@coggearalex3 жыл бұрын
@@JonBishopSkate I gotcha bro! So some slides are cool but avoid power slides on them? Thanks so much!
@cades.clips1014 жыл бұрын
I have a carver board . Should I loosen my trucks?
@JonBishopSkate4 жыл бұрын
Boi many thanks for tuning in. Carving moves are probably easier with loose trucks. It’s largely personal preference of course, I prefer them loose, but a lot of guys I know rip with the trucks tighter. For the Bert slide you don’t really need loose trucks as the turn is done with a slide as opposed to a carve. That said loose trucks probably help get the entry and exit angles easier? When getting into it, I loosened my trucks a quarter turn each session, that way I didn’t really notice the transition to looser riding?? I generally like more surf oriented skating and don’t have the skill for technical flat land or street stuff so I guess the loose trucks work for my riding??

YOU GOTTA ANNOUNCE TO THE SKATEPARK THAT THERE'S SOMETHING RAD GOING ON
