@@LostintheHate definitely isn’t easy when you’re first starting out and try it first the first time, it can be intimidating when you put your tail on the coping and just do it but it’s all mentally, I would say start small before you try a bowl or very but just think of it as you are shifting your body forward and going straight downwards the way the bowl goes down. But that’s what helped me

There's a video on KZbin where Omar Hassan explains roll-ins, and his technique for doing a small grind on your way in backside is really great for avoiding the risk of hang-up. Now that you have the acid drop roll-in, you've already learned the hardest one and learning backside/frontside/grinding roll-ins should all be easier than this first battle was!

New camera looks great! I started working on these a few days ago (backside) and finally got it. In the past I’d get a couple then hang up and splat on the flat. An overly exaggerated manual was the key for me. Getting that nose high ensures that the back wheels would hit the coping and the extra time to get the nose back down while the wheels cleared, prevented the dreaded hang up.

This guy has so much enthusiasm for skating, and makes me want to work on my Rollins. Only on a about 2ft quarter so far, incredibly informative, helps me appreciate that even the seemingly easy "just commit" trick take a lot of technique! Yeah, that’s the worst, just go fast and hold the manual and it can’t possibly happen. I found making it to the bottom with bent knees and going over the front was the best bail. I only hung up once and that was from too little speed so just didn’t do it again. If you follow the practice steps you’ll be fine, just keep going on kerbs and ledges till you’ve got the acid drop 100% Then try a flat bank and try to get the back wheels to air, then a small mellow quarter etc etc

love the presentation in this dude, absolutley nailed it, crisp, well narrated great story mode from start to finish. I've learnt the roll in slowly without the maunual and the hop, learnt not to get hung up with a tiny nose manual as tail trucks come over coping but still scary. watching this though just raised the bar again. thanks for the how to guide to follow. feel like its time to pad up hahaha

Yeah dude, I found the ‘rock in’ is a good low speed option and I should have included it in this vid. I recently learned the proper Fakey rock, where you nose manual back in and totally clear the back wheels, and I found it’s the same technique for the rock in without the Fakey approach obviously 😂

@@JonBishopSkate to be honest I think you surpassed it, handy stepping stone but watching this almost wish id skipped learning it haha. + sounds like the best way to do it. {fakie Rock} landef frist few feeble drop ins recentley loving the little hop as back trucks clear coping, but favourite thing at the moment is that tiny disconnect and reconnect as the board drops from under your feet then land back on it. must feel awesome rolling in to the ramps properly. :)'=]:

Outstanding! It took me plenty of attempts and crashes to learn it in a small bowl some time ago but now I am seriously thinking on trying in a 7feet tall one although it is fu** scarry. This scares me everytime, after 1 year of doing it I'm still a bit nervous. The progression for me will be doing it with just one push at a snails pace, my friends do it this way on the 3ft, 4ft and 5ft, but they've all been skating since childhood, I started at 48.
@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Great work, yeah I will make this my goal also !!
@mattstanbridge3 жыл бұрын
@@JonBishopSkate yeah my friends do it at super high speed with several pushes or about 1 metre from the coping with just a small push. I can only dream. I need to approach the coping at the perfect speed, not too fast, not too slow. I'm looking forward to seeing you move this up to bigger quarters, I'm still too scared to go above 3ft, you'll be my motivation for going bigger. I was brave enough to try rocking over the coping (not rolling) on a 5ft today, did it about 20 times but on one of them I got complacent and didn't move my foot fully onto the nose, back trucks hung up and went from high up on the 5ft to flat, it hurt, elbow badly bruised and tender, hip bruised and tender, bloody gash on side of knee, I'm 52 what the hell am I doing? Fun times. Completely happy though as I can now rock in on something higher than 3ft, it's been a goal since I started 4 years ago.
@JonBishopSkate3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s the falling to the flat that is unpleasant. I managed to get a roll in on the 5 ft after filming this. Sort of a F/S and straight over the top hybrid. The impact was noticeably bigger, I’m hoping that it’s one of those, once you get it dialled in, it’s there for life 😀 that said I still don’t really enjoy the regular drop in.
