Brilliant hierarchy. Pity I am only seeing your video now, or else I would have mentioned this in a past video. Thanks for this! Subscribed! 😊

One thing that you touched slightly is that of using your own skills. You mentioned that you knew how to take in trousers or do a hem. What about re making an item to suit or improve your wardobe. It can be the start of a very relaxing & rewarding hobby.I like to knit but found that high quality yarns out of my price range. Some years ago my father gave me a spinning wheel so I could source local sheep wool & make my own yarn. It opened up a whole new world to me . I now not only knit & crochet items to wear & for the home , but now also sew anything I need to replace fabric wise. If I dont have the skill set , then I learn how to do it.Obviously not everyone wants to do this but its certainly worth thinking about. My next project is a coat. Using the " buyerarchy " today , saved me from overstocking on fabrics & searching for more sustainable sources, so thanks. You saved me a heap of money.xxxx

This philosophy makes perfect sense to me. Especially buying quality clothes and shoes, that you can wear and wear, repair and alter when needed, and stop the endless consumption. Like Andrea Turner below, I feel sickened by all the fast fashion and the haul every week mentality that is so ubiquitous on you tube. I've had to unsubscribe from many because our ethics don't align and I'm bored by that format. I really appreciate your videos, attitude and gentle personality. Thanks & regards, Deb.

Thank you SO, so much Deb! I always cherish you sweet comments, and I'm glad to hear that you agree with me. I totally agree with both of you about the hauls. Sure they can be inspirational, but I wish more people would try doing "reverse hauls" with things they already have in their closets! Hugs from DK

Stu cumins I enjoy thrift hauls much more. Unpredictable and fun and second hand consumerism feels better

I think this is one of the best videos I've ever seen. You talked about something that is so important - and important on many levels. It certainly gave me a lot to think about. Thank you for taking the time to make such a great video and all the best to you at this pre-holidays time, Sue

Loved this, makes perfect sense for anyone with a little bit of consciousness about the environment. Thank you so much for sharing, I am very inspired with all your capsule wardrobe tips (I just wish I have found you before). You are doing a great job, please keep it up!

I agree about h&m. I still don't care for their labor practices but I have owned a skirt from there that I bought second hand, wore it for about 2 years and then sold it and it was still like new.

I'm glad you feel that way too!

I love this video. I must say, though, that the problem with H&M is its lack of ethical practices or eco-friendly fabrics. I don't think fast fashion belongs in anyone's closet!

I loved the video and the chart. I am now buying second hand when I need something. I found a great blender at a thrift store. You can plug it in at the store to make sure it works.

I love this too! I've been watching your channel for awhile now and am trying to create some sense to my wardrobe. Unfortunately the Nordstrom sale is happening here in the states and I got sidelined. I don't know why the word "sale" robs me of my sanity, especially watching the youtubers talk about it. I'm also not good at borrowing and I don't expecially like others to borrow from me. Have had some bad results. Thank you!!

I buy a lot of my clothes at thrift stores, but sometimes I've a definite need for something that I cannot fill at a thrift store (after trying for several months) nor can I afford the high end sweater that is supposedly better. So this year I bought a warmer, more expensive quality (for H&M ) charcoal high neck sweater that is keeping me warm almost every day. I am making it last by taking very good care of it. Thirty-five dollars well spent.
@UseLess_dk8 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it will last for ages with the right car even though it's "just" from H&M! People forget that by buying something from an expensive brand, they also pay for the name - not necessarily a better quality. Thanks for your comment

Thanks for your encouragement. I'm so glad I bought it; we're having a bitter-cold December.

I feel like repair should definitely be before thrift. Ultimately if you're not going to repair an item, you should really throw it away anyway.

Great video.....I've been a fan of capsule wardrobe for about 25 years. Jeans and white t's make the base for my Spring summer wardrobe. Black polo necks and jeans base my winter wardrobe. I was extremely lucky and found the ultimate second item and its absolutely nicer than the full priced item, a fraction of the cost and fits in better with my environmental concerns. Here in the uk there is a massive problem with charity shops and fast fashion. I watch a lot of fashion on you tube but feel slightly sickened about fast fashion. I love Boden for basics...I have a very Chanel inspired jacket from them and is about 7 years old now and still my favourite jacket.

You are SO right! All the hauls aren't my deal at all either. They can give a lot of inspiration, but when you think about the fact that most of these clothes just end up laying in the back of a closet with their tags on, I'm lost too. Thanks for your comment

After working on my capsule wardrobe I also learn what fabrics look the best on me. Unfortunately polyester (one is fabrics that I mostly own) a very bad fabric for the environment. 😐
@UseLess_dk8 жыл бұрын
Polyester may not be the best for the environment in the production part, but can be very durable, strong and last for a long time, so in a way it's not all bad. That's the tricky part when talking sustainability :-) XX
