Is Lemoncello the same as the italian drink Limocello?
@FlatPlutoSociety4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, same thing. "Lemoncello" is just a common American misspelling.

Define good vodka. It is always trouble, because the perception is, that it has to be an expensive brand - but it doesn't need to. It just need to be a quality brand (I usually like Finlandia - it is rather inexpensive, but one of the most neutral vodkas I know). Probably I would even use a 50% abv vodka: the more alcohol, the more extraction out of the peels. I also would not directly add the water. Originally limoncello is made with high proof grain alcohol - that means, the higher the proof (by not directly diluting it) the better. Probably you would even end up with the typical cloudiness - if you add water later (usually it is achieved, by adding sugar syrup to the lemon peel & grain alcohol infusion).

Thanks for watching! We haven't found the water to inhibit clarity for this recipe but you are more than welcome to either leave it out or add at the end! As for vodka, we agree! Good spirits don't also have to mean expensive spirits. If you have a favorite you like to use, definitely use it! We just recommend refraining from any vodka that isn't a good quality. Typically spending $5-10 more will get you a much better product so the extra money spent is well worth it.

LearnToCook Well - it is not, that water inhibit clarity - the opposite is the fact. Basically a lot of authentic limoncello's are cloudy. This happens, if water mixes with a quite high concentration of essential oils - after the infusion. The higher alcohol content also ensures, that most of the essential oils are extracted. Oh - and about the lemons - organic doesn't mean that it is additive free - and at times organic producers have to use far more of the allowed stuff, because it is less effective. This is what I mean. It is something completely different, if you know the farm. But otherwise "organic" is a very doubtful label - and you really have to understand first fully, what it means (and not blindly trust, what you think, what it means)...
