Thanks for tuning in! It's SO easy to get sucked back into passive riding. I try to remind myself of one thing to focus on before each lap, to make sure I'm actively riding. Stay rad! Hope to see ya on the next one!

It's super easy to revert back to old habits!! That's where the parking lot drills paired with correct form come in handy, do reps on reps & the muscle memory will ultimately take care of the rest!! Hell ya amigo!! -Mike

Awesome video. I’m an inter rider. I consider my self a natural. But I never learn anything from anyone. Just riding. So these videos are gold to me to clean up my riding. A video I’m looking for is how to dominate a simple jumps like small table tops or dubles. I find my self in the air pulling one side of the handle bar and always landing awkward hanging on for a near crash. Thanks guys. Awesome tutorials

My advice would be to start online mtb school where feedback is possible and in a year or two things will start happening. Its gonna cost you around 150€ but its worth it IMO. These youtube tutorials are fine but only pieces of the puzzle... and there are no easy 3 steps. It more like a 100 steps ...

The best way to learn is to ride!! So good on ya amigo. Stoked to hear you've been enjoying the videos though! When it comes to jumping, we have a tutorial on that - if you haven't checked it out start there, but my guess is you're maybe a little off-center or trying to PULL off the lip causing you to get kicked sideways. Feel free to send me a video on IG (@mikemurfitt) & I can do my best to provide actual feedback.

Ah man, sorry to hear it!! I'm right there with you though, 20 years on the bike & I still do silly things - I think that's pretty natural. In my experience it occurs when we get too comfortable with a skill & let our guard down...then BOOM, a crash.

Nicely explained fellas. . I fully understand the why and how, but man, getting over that fear of putting trust into the tires is no easy challenge, and it feels like such a complex move to execute. Any tips for gaining trust in those side knobs? Time, patience, I suppose? By the way, Chase, those pump corners in the parking lot were smoooooov AF! 👌 At first I was like..."hold up...did his rear wheel just leave the ground?...😲...rewind...x10" 😆 Thanks for sharing. 👊
@JoyOfBike
@JoyOfBike 2 ай бұрын
Completely fair! That's exactly why the parking lot is such a great starting spot; start slow & work up to going faster as the skill & trust builds. Trusting the side nobs will come naturally as you sharpen the skill, so you're spot on; time & patience. haha yea, it's crazy how smooth it can end up being!!

i've been working on my confidence going faster through berms this summer, and it's definitely easier for me to turn left. probably also true on flat corners but i don't have much practice on those. there are a couple trails at my home trails that have good berms that i want to ride without braking yet this year -- so far i've made it down to braking before 2 right-curved berms in each, then i ride through feeling like i could have taken it faster.

Another banger of a video. One thing I have been working on this year is to use a hip hinge without as much knee bend. When I do this I can get more of a pump and snap through corners. As well, I don't get as tired because I am not working my quads as hard. I would be interested in seeing how you guys set up your suspension. Are you adjusting often or more set and forget riders? Thanks for the video.
@JoyOfBike
@JoyOfBike 2 ай бұрын
thanks amigo!! Stoked you enjoyed this one - it's rad to hear you're starting to get corning dialed in. Knowing how to work with the bike as you're describing is half the battle! Personally I ride pretty closer to manufacturer spec for my weight, just a tad stiffer & slower rebound. I'm a pretty set & forget kind of guy but that's probably the BMXer in me. haha. We've actually been talking about doing a tech tuesday series with our buddy Luby that owns Dirt Labs suspension to cover this stuff in more depth - is that something that would be helpful?
@chasewillie.1
@chasewillie.1 2 ай бұрын
Hey hey! Those micro adjustments in your personal riding technique are pretty fun to figure out, huh? I do that all the time. Always a work in progress, which is the best part of riding. Personally, I'm mostly a set it and forget it rider these days when it comes to my suspension. Every once in a while, when I just feel like things aren't clicking like they should, I'll reset my suspension to the factory recommendations and dial it in over time again. Thanks for watching! We appreciate you! Hope to see you again soon.

Are you sure about the physics of your energy being pushed to the outside?
@chasewillie.1
@chasewillie.1 2 ай бұрын
I'm sure there are a lot of fancy physics things that we left out in this video, but our goal is to distill it all down to something that can be rationalized and recognized. So, for the applicable purposes of this video, yes! But thanks for checking us!
@JoyOfBike
@JoyOfBike 2 ай бұрын
Absolutely! This is a huge factor in why we wash the front end if we aren't weighting the bike property based on the terrain we're cornering on. You can experience this by just standing on the bike how Chase did & applying force to the inside of the handle bar while standing - the front end gets light & wants to PUSH to the outside of the bike, resulting in a wash out.
