Hi there! Thanks for your positive comment. The tracing paper we use is 50g. We always colour on a dark background so we have some nice white/black art card to put behind the tracing paper. The coloured pencils we use are Derwent Coloursoft brand. They are great because they are waxy and blendable giving a shine finish We also use a white pigment ink pen - that is great for hightlights Finally, we like using HB 2mm lead pencils for the initial sketch because is it not too messy. We use 2H lead for technical drawings so as not to blend the pencil with the colours. Check out our other videos on technical drawings and metalsmithing too!

Having seen videos on KZbin of using a 3d program to make them look the real thing, plus they can be rotated in all directions. Does this not make pen and pencil redundant? I enjoyed your video and have downloaded it for future reference.I am very new to this so I might end up eating my words because now the industry from what I can make of it is changing all the time with new methods, Lazer welders for instant, I will leave it there before I fall in the hole I'm digging for myself.

Hi Mr. Lee, that is a very good point. It partially can be addressed by preferred style. Simply some artists prefer pend and paper, others prefer digital. On the other hand, we can say that starting from a pen and paper drawing, it makes it easy to import the design from paper to the digital world. Certainly the digital design hold great power as it can show a photo realistic outcome before production. In fact we teach both styles at JDMIS.

@JdmisEduSg
@JdmisEduSg Жыл бұрын
Hi Sharvin, yes you can learn the skills and techniques through our metalsmithing class that also apply to gold. However, in our courses we start with copper and silver first when learning the fundamentals of working with metals, because gold is a lot more costly and not ideal for using as practice when you are just starting out in metalsmithing and jewellery-making. But the skills and techniques you learn in handling copper and silver are the same for when you eventually start handling gold.

Madam, How to make new jewellery design items a goldsmith any root for this making?
@JdmisEduSg
@JdmisEduSg 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kondoju , there are two main ways to make your jewellery design. One is to outsource to a third-party manufacturer in your country. The longer path would be to learn to make yourself. JDMIS teaches metalsmithing courses but only on our Singapore campus. You can watch our preview video series to have a better idea about what this path entails: kzbin.info/aero/PLkoDF-s3HfZO3dTbQT12eFBC7wvNJOH5z . We often start out with bronze or silver and once you became more skilled you can move on to higher-value metals such as gold.

Hi Sambit, no it is not a book but a 5-part online Certification programme! You can take and pay for each of the 5 parts individually. In Rupee, it's a little bit over 56,000. learn.jdmis.edu.sg/product/professional-certificate-in-classical-jewellery-design-foundation?KZbin

Nice.. but I'd be making my jewelry, not sending it to some manufacture. There is no joy or pride in that.

+jamie hollaway Some people tend to enjoy the process of design rather than making it them selfs, but I know what you mean by there being no pride.
