Hello Mr. Awesome!! My neighbour hasn't time for his boat as he still works for a living. He has given it to me.I only need to repair the floor and stringers and Transom before I go fishing. I haven't been fishing for 5 yrs. and watching your vids have given me the urge to get out there.Guess if I keep puttering away at it we can float it next year.Working on the boat is half the fun! Tight lines and calm seas from Canada s westcoast!!! Cheers

Hi Graeme. Just got a little tip about threading them booms. Get One of those Diamond eye threading tools that are used for threading pole elastic. I've used them for years great for threading braid. Love your video about the six gill sharks.

Great way to launch a boat. I always enjoy your boat fishing videos. I wish I'd gone for a sea boat years ago. We are very short of slipways on the Broads. Those remaining, usually cost about £12 each way. There used to be a lot of public slip ways but they've shut them now despite huge annual increases in Broads tolls. The Broads Authority take the money and run. The average depth of the broads was 14ft a hundred years ago now it's 4ft. At the moment it's at what must be an all time low due to lack of maintenance in general but added to by lack of rain, small tides and I'm sure added to by the fact that trees, that have replaced reed, boardering the rivers take up millions of gallons of water. Returning from maintainance up the Ant last week my prop picked up a leather cushion cover and rope, thank goodness I have an outboard, a fixed prop would have cost a fortune. The low water means that many can't safely leave their moorings at the moment and many of the bigger craft are running in the silt layer and likely cooling with mud. Can't be good for the fish. Cheers

Yup, that "ancient tree" is actually a Gorse Bush (and not in the best of health, but not as old as you might think) and your "ancient artifact" is a nodule of Flint, a common find in Chalky Geology. That Gorse bush being shown in a fishing video reminded me of a time when i was about 7, in the mid 70s, we went to visit family at the family farm. My Uncle Ted ( a huge character who i miss greatly) took me out to the pond we have. It's only small (about 3 acres or so) but very very old and never been artificially stocked ever. But it holds Rudd, Crucians, Tench, Pike and Perch (and some very big Perch at that!). He then proceeded to show me how to catch perch the way he and my dad did when they were kids. They would make their own hooks out of whatever they could find (parcel staples, nails, fencing wire...nothing was safe). But what he showed me was to cut a section off a blackthorn bush that had two spikes and trim the ends with his pen0knife and then tied a lobworm onto it with some wool out of his "magic pockets of anything". He then flicked this out about two rodlengths and within 30 seconds the ancient goose feather quill float darted under and he was into a fish! Now, it turned out to only be as big as his hand, although his hands were huge! But what a way to catch fish! This was the man who ignited my "passion for angling" that very day and he held a God-Like status for me even after he passed as he taught me so much that my granddad and great granddad taught him. Even today, the "country craft" i inherited works as well, and in many cases works better than new ways...i do prefer the new lighter rods though. So, i guess i practice "Fusion Country Craft"...a bit of old mixed with a bit of new! Sorry for rambling...But keep producing decent, watchable videos because there's nowt on the telly! All the best Steve

31:50 It looks like a gorse bush, very common on moorland and extremely hardy. That one does look pretty old a gnarly but nowhere near as old as the fort. If you've ever driven across dartmoor in the summer you'll see loads of low gorse everywhere with its dark green foliage and bright yellow flowers

Me and my lovely wife had a basset, sadly no longer with us. But when walking through the woods and forest's she would be rolling in deer pooh. The reason being she would be getting rid of her smell and camouflaging. she stunk to high heaven and every walk meant the hose pipe and a scrub. what a character. great clip.

Me dad had a pedigree racing greyhound called taffy, with her being an actual running dog, her prey drive was huge (they have to be to chase the hares). Unfortunately she would catch cats, squirrels, rats and rabbits regularly while walking her. She'd always rip them to bits and roll around in the carcass, getting blood all over herself. Apparently it's so other dogs would smell the kill on her and be impressed. It's like a dogs version of a Rolex haha.

Hi Graeme, some interesting tips about using an Alderney Ring. I have a Predator 165 and use a 5kg Bruce anchor with 4 metres of chain. I have been thinking of getting an Alderney ring set up. Would I need an A1 size bouy or would I be better with an A2 size? Love the little Jack, I had one and then a Patterdale. Currently have a little Norfolk who puts his life vest on and joins me on the boat!

Hi , I would use a minimum of an A2, 50 inch circumference buoy, it has to be buoyant enough to not only support the anchor , but it has to be able to pull the anchor, up from the depths, allbeit my anchor is heavier than 5kg

Anchoring out at sea always has some associated hazards. There are a couple of issues with the method we show in the video, which we didnt mention. If you are hauling your anchor from a cleat on the side of your boat, you need to be able to quickly pull the warp back to the front of the boat, if your engine dies, because it would not be good to be anchored with the boat at 90deg to the waves or tide, and if you wrap the warp around your prop you will need to quickly cut the anchor warp as being anchored stern into the sea would be disastrous. I always have several sharp knives to hand just in case , when I am Aldernay rig lifting my anchor

Thanks for the comment .Yes, I imagine a lot of fishermen take their wives for granted. We are lucky they let us go fishing really. Think of the jobs we could be doing at home.
