i really love that quote, " i want to keep my cabin/cockpit clean" makes a man of discipline,,, as a boat owner/fisherman myself i know what it looks like to be in that mindset, everything is organized,,,

@@fishingsalcombe I started lure fishing about 2 years ago from the shore - around 2 months ago I decided to try from a charter boat, only once on my chosen dates have we been able to get out due to the weather, the day we did get out was a blinder, so I can appreciate the frustration for boat owners like yourself.

Really appreciate your boat review and thoughts. Would be interested to see more on how you have connected your deck wash, pump used etc and how it's used to pump out the bilges as that seems a good idea. Also like your pasty warmer !! Sound like it will be interesting playing sorting the trim when I get my 170 on the water. Interesting video, Thanks

@fishingsalcombe Жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert! I’m not sure about the layout and construction of the 170 but a deck wash has an outlet, connected to the hose and spray normally and the inlet is usually to a sea cock or some means of drawing the water in. On mine the inlet goes to a three way manifold which allows me to open up one of three inlets at a time. Two of these are piped to the bilge areas (you might only need one in a 170?) and the third is the connected to the hose with the strainer on the end, as you can see in the video. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy your 170!🎣🎣

20-22 ft pilothouse boat is on my must have list probably next season. I have 18ft Shetland F4 at the moment and its brilliant for cruising and fishing for two but lack of any shelter whilst driving the a boat is a bit annoying in colder days.

As much as l would love to help you with the answer l really cannot, firstly l dont know anything about that many boats and l dont fish, it could be that i find more relaxing to sit at home with a magnet on a stick and pick out tins with no labels so that l dont know what l will eat for tea, could be sardines or tuna, l would recommend it because you dont need rubber boots and opening a tin is easier than bobbing about.

Could you do a close up of your transducer mount, I have a similar on my 175 but it doesn't quite come out of water so gets a lot of weed. My boat is moored in a harbour that dries out so that was main reason, but keen to try best way to keep it clean. Also would love some more detail on the fresh water system, do you flush engine with this as well ? Happy New Year!
@fishingsalcombe
@fishingsalcombe Жыл бұрын
@johnplummer5139 HNY John! My transducer mount also won’t keep it clear of the water when on the mooring. I slide it completely off the mount and just leave it in the engine well when I’m tied up. The water system I have is just a wash down pump with three switched inlets, two go to areas to pump the bilges and the third inlet is a hose with a strainer. I can chuck the strainer overboard which gives me a raw water wash down or if it’s in a bucket of water it gives me a fresh water wash down. Can’t use it for flushing the engine unfortunately. Tight lines 🎣🎣

I have to say I’m very happy with the 175 and small boat fishing is a completely different experience to fishing from a charter sized boat. Money no object and somewhere nice to keep it, I’d have a Botnia Targa - but I’d also hang on to my 175 on its easy mooring!

Hi, Hope you pick this messsage up. I am interested in the wash down set up you have put in. Can you share details re the kit you used and more importantly the multiway plumbing set up you used. I am looking to do the same. If you could share a drawing with then feeds from bilges, raw water etc and the multi way valve configuration and switching. Hope you can help as it would be a big help to me going forward. kr john
@fishingsalcombe
@fishingsalcombe Жыл бұрын
Hi John, I’ll put a video on when I get a minute and the weather is suitable but basically it’s you could use any deck wash pump and the inlet is connected to standard hep2o plumbing fittings. For mine I have a three way manifold with shut off valves so this allows me to open one inlet and keep the other two closed. So the three inlet options on mine are one going to under the fuel tanks and one goes to the bilge under the round transom access panels. I did have to drill holes to get the pipes to these points then they are just secured to the lowest point with sikaflex. The final inlet point is a hose with a strainer so I can pop this over the side for a raw water wash down or into a big bucket of fresh for a cleaner wash. Hope that helps. 🎣🎣

ADVICE NEEDED….well lads, Iv got myself a sealord 17.6, I’m wanting to get some rails put on her as for rod holders, bait board etc, Im thinking il put one along the stern of the boat but before I do, what’s peoples opinions and experiences, maybe pictures if u have them!? Before I commit to a certain layout! Thanks 🙏
@fishingsalcombe
@fishingsalcombe Жыл бұрын
There are many options but the beauty of owning your own boats means you can tailor it to you and how you want to use it. For me, I wanted to keep the quarters clear for fishing and the sides as free as possible so it was always going to be a table on the stern and rod holders where I needed them. The Railblaza gear works well for me but I would recommend the fixed star ports over the rail mounts. The rail mounts are great for cup holders etc but I wouldn’t trust them to be strong enough for a rod holder. Enjoy your new boat 🎣🎣

Great. Vid . Would you buy another ? Or money no object and your 5.5m mooring what would you get ? Do you more out of Kingsbridge ?
@fishingsalcombe
@fishingsalcombe Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark. Yes, I’m on the pontoon at Kingsbridge so being able to walk on board is very easy and convenient. I would buy another one and obviously newer is nicer! The ‘money no object’ question is a tricky one because you could buy a boat but you can’t necessarily buy the facilities or the water to use it. Luckily I’m not wealthy enough to have that dilemma! Tight lines 🎣🎣

I see you have a transducer close to the outboard I have read it needs to be about 15 inches min what are your thoughts on this as I have a sliding plate to fit on mine and the stern is small thank you michael
@fishingsalcombe
@fishingsalcombe Жыл бұрын
@@michaellegge5324 yes, you’re right, further away from the prop would be better. I put mine where it is because that was the position where there was space between the boarding ladder and the engine. Most props are clockwise so having it on the starboard side of the engine means I don’t get any slow speed interference from the prop. It does mean that there is lots of interference when I pop it in reverse and it can wipe out the sounder for a short while. It works ok for me but definitely further away would be better if you have the space.
