Shooting for score with a target setup unknown yardage is way different than spot/stalk real hunting. You need to practice judging and quickly decide. Using a multi pin adds another challenge. Like you said a faster arrow gives an advantage when you misjudge 2-3 yards. You can probably make a kill hit at reasonable distances. 👍👍

I use two methods involving my thumb in an outstretched arm. One is holding my arm out, or using the tip of an arrow, and closing one eye. When swithing eyes the thumb/arrow tip moves. That distance inmeters i multiply with 10 and get the distance. If i fx estimate it to have moved 3.5 meters then the distance is 35 meters. I guess it can be applied to yards as well. Another method, which i also use to measure my gap, is i know the joint of my thumb in an outstretched arm covers 20 cm for every 5 meters. So if i estimate the target to be 120 cm and my thumb joint covers that, then i divide by 4 and get that the target is 30 meters away

Interesting, I’ve tried the hand thing a couple times but it seemed difficult with different sized targets
@frankthomsen23504 ай бұрын
@@DeadHeadArchery yes, you need to be able to judge the size of the target, or something close by. I have practised estimating how much a meter is, and is generally good at estimating the size of a target or parts of it. But it does take a lot of practise

@@DeadHeadArchery Lol I know, I’m just in the midst of that struggle between clarifier, verifier, and I can’t wear contacts due to an eye injury a few years ago. Love the content and keep it coming!!!

@@spudkidmandudebro appreciate the support. I just had a lens replacement on my right eye because I was tired of the blurry vision when I shot even when I wear contacts.
