I ran into your channel, most likely because for months now, I've been trying to improve my accent and fluency without much success, even though, I've listened to many other youtubers like you who teach American English. I've spent almost an hour on this specific playlist listening to you while I work and I want to tell you are fantastic, thanks for your advices and bringing up topics that others haven't yet, you say things that are so real. You're amazing and beautiful too.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment and kind words! I'm happy to hear that you stumbled across my channel and that you found this playlist useful (I'm assuming it's the one on learning to like your voice and your accent). Comments like yours motivate me to keep making videos on these topics, as I think they're super important, even if it's not necessarily a video someone will rush to watch as soon as it's published. I hope you're able to get closer to your goals, and if you have any topics that you'd like me to cover in future videos, I'm open to hearing suggestions!

Hi Kim. It just some thing i want to share. I used to hate my own voice. But since i started to recording some short sentences in English to fill in some pronunciation gaps i have, now it sound better. Actually, i'm happy now. But I'm still working on it. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

Thank you for sharing your personal experience, Mark! I'm so glad that you are now happy with your voice and that you're making progress on your pronunciation goals. Sometimes, we just need to hear ourselves more and adjust to our own way of speaking!

Thank you for the kind words! I think it's important to talk about deeper issues that affect how we speak the language we're learning. This is the same kind of advice I wish I'd had when learning Spanish and Portuguese!

Wow, it's very insightful. For me I need to set the right expectations and goals for the speaking. Someone said practice your voice until you are satisfied with your voice but now I feel it could be the eventual goal like being a native speaker after I watched this video. Thanks a lot sharing this one.

You're right - it's important to set reasonable, achievable expectations for how you sound when speaking. Your eventual goal could be to sound like a native speaker, but it will take time and focus on different aspects of your speech to get there. At times, we can be much too hard on ourselves. If we never reach a very distant goal, we can feel like we've failed or lose momentum. It's important to reward ourselves for the progress we've made along the way. I'm glad you found this helpful - and I hope the information about the "inner voice" answered the question you asked during my live stream last week!

That is such a wise observation - I love that way of phrasing it! You don't have to be the same person in every language, and your voice doesn't have to either!

Thank you so much for the video. It’s so appreciated! I’m definitely another person when I speak English and most of the time too hard on myself.

I definitely relate - a lot of these videos are advice I need to follow myself as a non-native Spanish speaker!

English with Kim when I watch your videos, it’s like you’re speaking to my soul. My English personality don’t come out of the shell to 100%, but I keep faith that one time the shell will crack.😆

Teacher Kim Can you transelation the video to Arabic?🥺
@Englishwithkim4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I don't speak Arabic so I'm not able to translate it. However, I do provide captions/subtitles in English for each video (click the [CC] button) and you can also slow down the speed of the video.
