Yes! The fear of failure is a problem. Use cheaper paper, and paint your image twice or three times.

I have only recently starting watching your videos so I apologize in advance for asking a question that I'm sure you have already answered. Sometimes you use a mop brush that has an orange tip on the handle. What brand is that? I've looked at the Joseph Zbukvic mop brushes but they don't look the same. I've been painting with watercolors for awhile now and after watching your videos, I'm ready to take the big step (for me) and use a good mop brush so that I can hopefully loosen up my paintings. Thanks!

Maybe you are doing too many strokes? Maybe a bigger brush, less strokes, strong colour.

I always wonder regarding the names of a square ship rigging. I think the horizontal sail suspender is a boom. Vertical are mast.

Hi Shirley, I haven't watched your latest video yet but it won't long. I have a question, do you ever paint with acrylics? If you do, any chance you could do a demo and a chat or even if you don't use them, I would like to hear your views on them. I have only ever used watercolour but lately I am begining to wonder if I should give them a try. Just interested if your thoughts x

Hi Richard, yes I do use acrylics. I’ll do a video on them soon. They are versatile as they can be thinned and used like watercolour, or used straight from the tube like oils. As with watercolours, you need a rich saturation of pigment, so quality of paints is important. Artists quality if you can afford them. I’ll do a comparison between cheap and expensive as well.
