Really appreciate this series. Very helpful as someone who never played before. Not to unpack, build, and paint Blackwind!

Get to it, soldier! This series has two more videos in it... think you can make it to one of the factions painted before the series is done?

This is a good video to introduce players who are starting Infinity. I like how you have made the turn order and ARO easy to understand. Well done creating this video.

Great video, currently debating buying Operation Blackwind as the minis are amazing and my friend is keen to try. Think we will stick to Code one to start with. This really helped me learn the fundamentals though. I have played Malifaux and GW games but the concept of AROs is both amazing and daunting haha. Look forward to your next ones

Operation Blackwind is a great place to start, it'll help with terrain too, if you're coming from Mali and 40k. Good call on CodeOne, it's a solid choice to start with, this series will split at one point to be about N4 solely, but before that we will be pointing out what is and isn't N4. We'll also probably do a "going from codeone to n4" video too. AROs are so cool and cinematic, they're a bit odd to start with, but you'll get there. Next video should be Friday! Thanks for watching and your support.

@@thedicegodswg that would be super helpful and honestly these videos are a hobby gem for me and my playgroup as we like to play a variety of games at a casual level (we are all ex tourny players of various games). If one model can trigger multiple aros at once how do you decide what order to do them in?

There's a point of debate amongst my group regarding the ARO to enemies within ZoC. If someone enters ZoC from outside the reactive players LoF but in open ground, what AROs can the reactive player take?
@thedicegodswg2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question... Within ZoC but outside LoF, and assuming the active trooper has no stealth, then you're looking at dodge, reset, or hacking attack. Which part was causing debate?
@SPARTANTROOPER2 жыл бұрын
@@thedicegodswg Someone thought they could shoot as an ARO due to the change in wording in the latest FAQ
@thedicegodswg2 жыл бұрын
@@SPARTANTROOPER really? Okay, can you let us know which bit makes them think that and we'll take a look for you. :)
@SPARTANTROOPER2 жыл бұрын
@@thedicegodswg Sure, the original text stipulated that enemies entering a troopers ZoC outside of LoF can only be reacted to using dodge or reset unless having special equipment that can be used without LoF. The updated text in the 1.1.1 FAQ just says that they can be reacted to. This lead to a discussion about whether the removal of that specification meant that any ARO action could be used in ZoC.
@thedicegodswg2 жыл бұрын
@@SPARTANTROOPER Okay, I've not checked that specific point, BUT I have an answer for you. The problem there is that the BS Attack still requires LoF. So, if your friend wants to play RAW, and read it that way, then they CAN declare BS attack, but in the ARO validity check step, then it is not a valid ARO, so their ARO becomes idle. Does that make sense? And help?
@KolgartsMiniatures Жыл бұрын
Just a quick question, if a trooper moves into zone of control of an enemy trooper but out of line of sight, can the enemy choose to make a bs attack aro? The active trooper could move out into line of sight of the enemy and be shot at the end of the order?
@thedicegodswg Жыл бұрын
No, they couldn't. The active trooper isn't in Line of Fire of the reactive trooper. LoF is a requirement of BS Attack (infinitythewiki.com/BS_Attack), so the ARO would be invalid. It's why the order expenditure process is so important to follow. The only way that this would be possible would be if the active trooper had stealth. They would not be a valid target during the first short skill, but, if the second short skill moved them into the LoF of the reactive player, then BS Attack could be declared. Hope that helps and makes sense and sorry for taking three weeks to come back to you!

In Code One you can only spend one ARO per two skills?

You can get an ARO for every trooper who can ARO per order spent

Sorry but hundreds of pages of rules is way too much for me.. Miniatures seem very cool by the way. If i want to teach a friend to play it, i have to spend a whole afternoon (and i am quite sure he would not grasp it completely within that timespan). I also have seen code one, but still it's 100 pages.. I think this is the reason that keeps infinity (despise being surely an interesting and fun game) not widely spread within the hobby.
@thedicegodswg4 ай бұрын
I guess it depends on whether you want a crunchy system or not, and how much time you have to invest. Infinity does need time investment, but it is also highly rewarding. No, you can't teach Infinity in an afternoon. It's too deep for that, it takes a good few games to get into the core of it, and you're either happy to invest that or you're not. As to the system not being widely spread, that's not my experience, but I guess it depends on your area... or maybe I just keep taking the game with me everywhere I go.
@myprivatechannel16954 ай бұрын
@@thedicegodswg It would be cool if Corvus belli made another semplified game with the same cool miniatures and setting. More semplified than code-one. Like 20 pages or less, that is possible to grasp in 1-2 quick games. The minis are so cool, it's really a shame we cannot enjoy them without the need to study a complex rulebook. The new generations of wargamers are less involved in complex and deep games, i remember in the past was not like that. This is why historical WW2 wargames are an art for vintage hobbysts (sadly).

I gotta say I appreciate the effort but you repeated yourself a lot and I kept thinking you were going to provide more info (in a 20 min video) but I felt like I learned very little by the end. I moved on to video two in the series, and it is much, much better. I'd consider re-recording this one, or at least editing it down and remixing the audio a bit. Being that it's the intro to this series, it very nearly turned me off entirely. But what you have going for you is that every other Infinity how-to video is significantly worse. 😅
