At 2:08 when you play that it sound really cool and I could see that being used at the end of the song in kind of a jam to bring the song to a close. . .

Excellent lesson-definitely learned a lot from it. Not sure if you know that the rhythm you are teaching was made famous by the Great Bo Diddley. I thought he deserves some props for those who are learning the song. Thanks for the lessons.

Actually New York Groove was written by Russ Ballard! All those little licks are from Ballard originally! If you get a chance somewhere out there is the demo that he made that Ace heard!
@scatcatcnut3 жыл бұрын
No demo - it was a hit single in UK years before by Hello who did a lot of Ballard's songs.

Dang.... Steve man. You're almost always my hero but ya left out all the cool fills and stuff that show Ace putting his stamp on this great ditty. Ahh well, all your other lessons have taught me well enough to figure it out for myself by now anyways haha. Thanks again for all the great and varied lessons you've donated to the guitar world. Just bought Chord Chasing Mastery and all the sweet bonus material today. Looking forward to diving into it (once my band quits adding more and more songs to my mountain of fun and challenging chores haha)! Cheers

Very cool video! I just picked up an electric guitar yesterday. 49 years old here. Big Kiss/ Ace fan. I so wanna get comfortable playin guitar. I don't have an amp yet. Any suggestions for a beginner? My buddy is lending me his Samick, Strat body
@beamerstrumpet10 жыл бұрын
depends on what you really want to do or spend. for a good bedroom / house amp, you have lots of choices under 200. Berhinger, line 6 Peavy venom. for a tube amp thats affordable, Bugera V5, you will want a distortion pedal if your a kiss fan. LOLOL the first 3 amps mentioned are solid state but come loaded with some great effects.
@falseteeth56219 жыл бұрын
If you're a bedroom player I recommend a Marshall stack.

Excellent tutorial!!..You did a great job my friend..I am very familiar with power chords..I know exactly what you're talking about..A tip that I would like to add to beginners starting out with power chords in this particular song is to mute the top string (low E) with the tip of your forefinger(aka pointer finger) when you're starting the intro...Still, I Love your lesson..👏👏👍👍

I don’t play guitar but I find this stuff interesting... funny how Ace hated the “Dynasty’ album because most of it sounded like it was disco, yet the song he copied from ‘Hello’ was made into a disco song and became a hit...
@petera.michaelsen46577 жыл бұрын
New York Groove doesn't feel, sound or is nothing like Dynasty, good thing you clarified you didn't play guitar.
@JoeyP3227 жыл бұрын
Peter A. Michaelsen if you read my comment, I said the song that Ace copied, ‘New York Groove’ sounded like a disco song... which was played at discos... you don’t need to play guitar to hear that...
@petera.michaelsen46576 жыл бұрын
Ace didn't copy the song, he covered it, New York Groove was never a huge hit until Ace did it.
