Doesn't the witch grab a +1 in attack while in a summoning circle? Other wise this is one of the better explanation videos!

It's almost in its last 48 hours, so anybody interested should check it out ASAP, because it's not one of those simple, self-contained kickstarters that's a no-brainer to jump on. There are a heap of add-ons that range from _reasonable_ value to pretty poor value (in my opinion, and seemingly the opinion of quite a few others) and expensive (compare 11 figures with 7 unique sculpts for $25 for a HATE tribe, Vs 7 figures with 2 unique sculpts for $20 a witch add-on). So unlike a game with few or no add-ons, or great-value add-ons like HATE's, the add-ons for Dark Rituals are a tough call. Personally, I'm all in, letting Dark Rituals alone suck up most of my games budget for this year. But even *I* have to admit that the second all that add-on money I'm spending, doesn't feel like money well spent, so much as money committed to the _hope_ that it will be good enough to start justifying the expense. *TL;DR* Base game + expansion = good value Add-ons = middling to poor value Campaign has only about 3 days to go.

Thanks for adding the link I also just updated my description to include it as well. I see your points and I have seen a number of others point this out in many different Kickstarters as well. I have personally backed way to many games on Kickstarter and I am good friends with a number of designers that have run kickstarters in the past. I am also a big fan of CMON and the games they make but they also set the bar to a point that most small companies can't match. As a backer I want the most for my money but in the end I also want companies to be able to continue making these games which means there needs to be a balance that is met on both sides. I hope you don't feel I am coming down on you or anyone with this opinion it is hard when you might not know the behind the scenes so to say and I just wanted to give my thoughts on it. as always thanks for posting and starting the conversion. I think you may have given me a great Idea for a documentary I may look at producing:;)

@@LearntoPlayGames All good. :) CMON has certainly set the bar very high in terms of bang for buck with their miniatures-heavy games, and I agree that it's not fair to hold smaller studios to the same standard. And I realise there are _a lot_ of hidden expenses and leg-work behind the scenes, cutting the margins right down to a small fraction of the money they actually raise, and if any disasters happen along the way, there goes a chunk of their modest margins. So I think I've got a pretty level-headed perspective, but I'm also a consumer at the end of the day, and while I definitely want to see Dark Gate Games succeed, as I think they're offering something unique, I also have to assess the value of the Dark Rituals components in comparison to its competition. So maybe I'm being a bit harsh. Maybe the base game + expansion aren't just good value, but great value. Maybe where I see a HATE tribe as good value, I should see it as great value, and maybe where I see a witch + 6 minions pack as middling-to-poor value, I should actually see it as good value. Being an overseas buyer, paying a chunk for shipping and losing a lot in the exchange rate certainly doesn't help one bit. And if they offer some kind of bonus or discount for an all-in pledge, that will certainly bump the value up a bit. I didn't feel like you were coming down on me at all for giving my opinion, by the way, and I hope you didn't feel like I was being unfairly critical of Dark Rituals or Dark Gate Games. I call a spade a spade, and I try to be fair. I've also found that the whole world of game kickstarters is intriguing, so a documentary about it seems like a great idea; _certainly a very timely idea_ I think. As more of a computer gamer moving back to table-top games, I'm seeing a lot of parallels between table-top game kickstarter campaigns and the freemium/free-to-play model that has taken over much of the computer game world, and is still finding its feet and settling in, with pendulum swings of backlash and apathy from gamers.

Thanks, I did not feel you were coming down on me or Dark Gate Games, I defiantly understand your opinion and see with you being an overseas buyer you do get hit with much higher shipping costs which impacts the overall cost when choosing a kickstarter to back. I used to be a bigger video gamer as well and fear exactly what you are talking about happening to board games. In my opinion they have destroyed so many video games trying to squeeze every penny out of us it just is not fun to play them most of the time. The way the world is today everyone has to be so careful what they say and do it was nice to be able to have a back and forth with you on this without feeling getting hurt. Thanks so much for the conversation and your opinions you have inspired me to make that video and if I have them proper time to spend on it I would like to make that happen.

I have a question with the campaign. The winning team won 8 victory points but what happens with the itens (weapons and botanic) ? Does the heroes get those for the next encounter? It's not fair for the witch team because she would increase and the heroes yes...

Nice video and easy to understand! Got my box a few weeks back now. There's a few differences in the final product from what's seen in this video, though they are mostly cosmetic. One thing to keep in mind: The witchmaster must also abide by the rule of activating only one character at a time. This means you can't move or attack with two different characters in the same activativation, but are free to attack twice with one if you wish. Also: Casting a plague, or using some of the witchcraft cards, demands you to activate one of the witches first as the caster of that specific spell. This means that the second action that activation must also be taken by the same witch.
