Tristan C well that one got snowed out and then I missed my second one but my third group of games went fine. I was with some friends who had done it before so that took some weight off of my shoulders.
my 1st game to ref is in 2 days and this has been very helpful! thanks a lot!

Great video. Do you have one that explains the rotations?
@willowbrook2717 Жыл бұрын
Ok. Some of the mechanics are very different from HS in the US. E.G. what do you do for the table if #55 has fouled? You show that for #10 two hands with all five fingers show that it is #10 that fouled. Confusing unless you don't have the number 5 on any jerseys. That's just one thing that is different. Another is the mechanic for timeouts. Here we spread both arms out with hands open for a full TO and two hands touching the shoulders for a 30. You showed the signal we use for a technical foul. Most all the rest are similar and the principles are almost exactly the same. One thing I do like is using "rectangles" to represent the different primary areas. That is much easier to visualize than what we have here. Interesting video nonetheless.

I thought being a ref was easy, you just blow the whistle when a violation or foul. Why did they have to make it with so much memorizing??
@kevinspurling21514 жыл бұрын
Looks like the official is “hunting” for a foul. The officials should not be stepping around and moving looking as though they are looking for a foul. Relax and watch with your eyes.

Good advice

Disagree. A good official is moving and working to get good angles and officiating the defense. Guys who just stand like a statue can get straightlined too easily.

Blocking foul on the white player
@philhaddad54955 жыл бұрын
I['m not sure where they're getting some of this information but NFHS does not have a substitution signal, and nor do you bounce the ball the the player underneath the net. There were a few others that I saw that were wrong and not what I was taught from my chapter of officials who have a very good reputation for mechanics and professionalism. The trail is table side on foul shots according to NFHS rules. The scorer does not hit the horn to let you know a time out is called NEVER. NFHS DOES NOT HAVE A TIME OUT SIGNAL PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, GO BY WHAT YOUR CHAPTER TELLS YOU TO DO.
