Big fan of Dominic O'brien. He's no longer the best but still the godfather of mnemonists. I was absolutely a big memory nerd for a good decade. I used to memorize pi to 3000, thousands of birthdays, and a deck of cards in under 30 seconds. Getting that good with numbers was great for party tricks, but it took a lot of investment and wasn't practical in day to day life. I still do some crazy memory stuff, but I switched 3 years ago to using these methods and focusing more on learning languages, allowing me to converse in more than 10. And I still greet as many people happy HALF birthdays daily. Great way to network!

OnePercentBetter: Excellent post with clarity, graphics and pacing. By wisely keeping the background music low key so as not to distract or conflict with narration, that decision alone is "NinetyNinePercentBetter" than many who have ruined their videos by music unsuitable to subject matter coupled with excessive and abrasive volume. Thanks much.

This method is great but be careful with name remembering associations. I work with some colleagues who have rather ( to me) exotic names. One guy was a Bodrul not a name I was that familiar with. In England Toilet roll is sometimes called bog roll. So I imagined us all ambushing him with bog roll. When I tannoyed him to say the boss needed to see him. I nearly giggled aloud as I remembered the imagery. For remembering his name! lol

Running a little behind on schedule! Indeed like many things, it takes practice. I invested a couple hours into learning it and once you get going, it's pretty simple :)

Scrottobaggns: I am new to the Dominic method. Sounds like you really enjoy working the system and your mind. Two questions if I may: 1-the number cards I understand but what value do you assign to Aces and/or Face cards(Jack-Queen-king)?? 2-What is the" title" of the book you used for building a foundation to utilize the Dominic System.??.

The point before 3:00 is interesting. Memory techniques do indeed highlight the massive difference between memorising lots of stuff, and understanding any of it. This is *in no way* a criticism of memory techniques, though. The simple fact is that understanding and logic are completely different skills from memory - and equally important If you can remember lots of history, then you have the raw material to conduct the fiendishly difficult business of working out what conclusions we have enough evidence for Memory techniques were never going to help with that, so it's not a criticism of them..

Hi Brandon, Thanks much for the time & effort for sharing what you have learned. Just discovered your channel the other day with ViralTalk as your guest. Would like to commend your generosity & kindness. Saw your support to other KZbinrs and God BlessYou! :) Saw you mentioning other channels plus the video summary.. Awesome! You got a new subscriber here. I'm looking forward to start a channel soon so I could share good contents in our dialect. I still need to learn how to make an animation. I would appreciate a mentor as I am not much of a techy person. I would like to help the younger generation in their learning journey through informal education online & in person, in this side of the world. :) * I am an advocate of the concept of teaching first " Learning How to Learn" in schools. Maybe you can make a video about it. * Just finished your How to read a book video... nice one, too. Sharing my comment: It is indeed important to read purposely and have a guideline head-on to maximize the learning & time spent. This holds true in every venue of learning... in a seminar, meeting, classroom... everyone has to bring along an interest, a teachable heart ( w/ a questioning mind) & a resolute decision to finish with a take home lesson to apply. :) Never leave empty handed coz we already gave out our time...we might as well have a return of investment. This should be taught in school early on. :) - AHA Moment 4/10/18
