So excited to see a new video from you! You're one of my favorite ASL channels on youtube. The difference between your videos and a teacher who is hearing is night and day! Please keep it up!

Thank you so much, Alyssa! I appreciate your kind feedback, and I'm glad you find these videos useful. Note that I'm actually hearing (see my 'about' tab), but I do get that feedback a lot that people (including many Deaf people) assume I'm Deaf. Hearing people and teachers vary in their signing skills and teaching styles.

To sign emergency break, would you make the sign for "E" and than spell break or is there another way of singing?

Is there a sign for "handbrake" or "accelerate", related to the "brake" sign?

Hello. Thank-you for your videos. I really enjoy your channel and have watched many now. You are one of my favorite sign teachers on the internet. Are you able to do a video topic on prepositions? In, out, over, under, on, off, around, about, almost, etc, and then words like many, much? (or not...prepositions are just fine). I'm trying to become as proficient as possible in asl (I have a non verbal hearing preschool aged daughter with a rare genetic condition who is currently unable to talk orally (she may never be physiologically able to talk). She knows/understands hundreds of asl signs and can likely communicate with 150+ signs at the moment). We are unable to sign asl in the traditional way (where the words are rearranged in sentences) because I am speaking while I sign. Hope you can help us. We don't have a young signing community where we live as apparently all children born deaf receive cochlear implants in our city. And because she is not deaf, but still cannot talk, (in spite of being very eager to communicate), we are sort of on our own trying to figure things out. : )

Hi Meredith, i was wondering if you would be able to make a video on ordering, or helping a customer at a bar?
@ASLMeredith2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your request! I have other videos about customers -- none specifically for a bar, but if you can share any vocabulary that would be helpful, let me know! In the meantime, here are two other videos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWHVe6iZfbyZitk and kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXTNYoqIZ8inbtU

@@ASLMeredith thank you for the references, I will try to look for the proper bar lingo words. The only words I know at the moment are "dry", and "on the rocks".

For the "Break it down", use "explain" as you moves downward as if you are going through each bullet points. Top to bottom movement with "explain" sign.

Please slow down the words and signs that you provide as explanations to the new words you are teaching us. Thank you

Hi, it's Anna again. So I saw in another video you did the break up sign backwards as in you linked your hands with index and thumb in a circle bringing them back together. So the Break-up sign backwards means regrouped or back together?
@annahoward79492 жыл бұрын
I just discovered you have online courses. I will go over there. It's very odd that Rosetta Stone doesn't have ASL.
@ASLMeredith2 жыл бұрын
Hi Anna, yes so the general sign CONNECT can be reversed to mean DISCONNECT or -- "break up" , in context.

I show the sign DATE in this other video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnraiqOsp7aEfLM and not sure about your emojis there, but the thumb tucked vs extended is a different handshape and may change the meaning of a sign
