Thanks for the tutorial; don’t know about others but everything makes so much sense when watching. Completely different story when you enter the pool. Like you said front crawl is not the easiest to learn either but thanks for breaking it down.

thanks, I usually end up with water instead of air in this maneuver!

As you said in this video is all about coordination before taking that breath. I end up sinking when trying to side breath, when I watch this video it all makes sense and I say oh yes thats exactly how im gonna do it but once im in the pool any little mistake messes up my rythm. I do want to mention that I never swam in my life and I've been trying to learn proper techniques for about 3 weeks now

Hahahaha… I am learning and today was day 3. I am already afraid to try this when I start learning freestyle.

Newbie here started laps 3 weeks ago, I am finding that turning my head to almost look backwards when I inhale is much less likely to take in water. Probably looks weird but feels pretty good. I hit a mile this week, very addicting.
@garywixson88524 жыл бұрын
I’ll try looking backwards when I inhale because I take in water sometimes/most of the time when I inhale. As I’m sure you know, it’s very frustrating.

When I tilt my face off the water, water comes into my nose. Can you give some advice on that?

Try blowing from your nose when your about to tilt your face off water, then breathe

I have never been able to do more than one lap without feeling like I'm suffocating. I do better if I breath every second stroke instead of every third but this is inefficient and then my neck isn't as happy with the lop-sidedness of always breathing on one side. I can switch which side by lap instead of stroke but then I always am looking the same direction. Do other people have this problem with breathing and am I likely doing something wrong that I can't breath?

If i exhale all my air then it makes me sink under water. Do i have to be in speed to not sink ?

I feel breathing out entire air through nose into the water very exhausting. I need to really "force" the air out of my lungs as opposed to natural breath out outside the water.. Due to this my breathing while swimming becomes erratic and the my body eventually tires out. Any advice please?
@lucksanapornyodsuksa54093 жыл бұрын
just got a hang of freestyle a couple of weeks ago after months of learning, I had the same problem! My amateur advice is to keep your breathing rhythm natural and stay calm in the water.. in.. and out.. in.. and out.. do not rush I usually start to exhale slowly since the 3rd stroke, before I breathe out all the air on the 4th stroke, then rotate to breathe in again.. That way it wouldn't feel like you're holding the air till the 4th stoke, and force them all out Hope this helps :)

Same boat. I'm using a pool buoy to get comfortable in the water. Plus, I'm usually cycling about 20 to 40 miles in the morning. I've been doing 1,000 to 600 meters of swimming three times a week, using the buoy about 65% of my laps. Going on 2nd week now. Getting way more comfortable in the water, and I feel my core, shoulders, chest, and back getting stronger.

But how is this enough oxygen to not get out of breath?
@Ballaurena1310 ай бұрын
I haven't figured out in my 40+ years how to get enough oxygen with this stroke. Let me know if you figure something out.
