I am 50 and learned swimming last month. Though I was quite sceptical in the beginning but since I started floating within four days, I didn't let go the momentum. And without any doubt, KZbin videos have kept me motivated. Being from a teaching field, I adopt the self-directed learning approach which is suitable for adult learning. Follow the areas you want to improve as per your instinct and work upon them. Now I am regularly doing 30 breadths daily and building up my strength.

😮 WOW... When I was in high school the PE coach tried to teach me to swim for 2 years.... I don’t remember him telling me ANY of these things! I just thought I couldn’t swim. Looking at these clear instructions (which make sense) I am motivated to go out and give it a try! ...This looks like a blast... That I’ve needlessly been missing!!... I am convinced now, EVERYBODY should learn how to swim.

I love this channel, because I really like and enjoy swimming (I just spend 8 hours at the pool today). However, what really makes me love this channel is that it offers me the proper technique and it is demonstrated physically and stated verbally in a specific and perfect way with high quality audio and video, and I can access this knowledge whenever and I want. The only downside of this compared to having an instructor with you at the pool is the lack of feed back to your swimming and your questions. But this is still better than what I'm getting from my instructor... Because my instructor trains like 10 or more people at the time from different levels of swimming skills and he barely gives feed back because of the many people that he's "supposedly" "instructing"... Also, he doesn't care all that much about those who are seemingly trying to improve themselves out of love for swimming and dedication. He o ly focuses on newcomers and those who like to Co plain about how the technique is hard or like to just chatter to waste time and such... I ask for feed back of how I'm doing and also for redemonstration of the proper way of doing a certain technique so that I make sure I'm doing it right and am not practicing wrongly... It really pisses me off seeing that I'm not getting proper instructing because I'm dedicating myself while others are complain, therefore they're the ones who need attention. I think it's ultimately the gym's fault, because instructing session (yes one singular session a day) is just 30 onites short only

I never thought about an adult learning to swim. So without being taught, when they try to go from a backfloat to standing, if you don't do your arms right you will just kinda spin, do people actually do that if they are learning? Or is it pretty natural to not do it? I am trying to compare it to skydiving, since i didn't skydive as a baby, i would try and use my arms, legs and body to control my fall in the wrong way and just go tumbling out of control. I guess the same would be true for a new swimmer.
