Learn to Update, Track, & Monitor Projects using MS Project, MS Project for Beginners Lesson 6

In this video I discuss how to update a project using MS Project. I do a quick review from the previous videos and then jump into how to set a status date, use the tracking screen, tracking Gantt and variance screen when updating. As well I discuss how to review the cost and resource cost screens with regards to cost variances. Sir, great lectures on MSP. I'm passionate about learning msp in construction. Usually i watch video and know how software works. I even read msp manual to know how to use it but they are very vague. I never know when to use which tool. To be honest, I never know about baseline. Today, after watching i came to know that i can track the project only if i put baseline. So yeah, this channel is blessings to me. Thank you so much. Guru.

Why is it necessary to set a status date? If I update the task looking at the project today why should I put a status date in the past? The actual start, the actual finish and the % complete can be analyzed today

I have a project that started in 2021 and is now restarting in 2022. What would be the best way to update that schedule?

Hi Stephanie you should be able to go to project tab and then project information and change the start date to whatever date you want to start and everything will move

@@TomStephensontraining That's the issue, we don't want to restart the project, we want to pick up in the middle. For example, the initiation and planning has been completed. We are restarting in the execution phase. What would be the best way to update the schedule? Change the planned dates manually?
