English also has this formal tone, it’s just way harder to tell it apart from the informal tone (the informal tone involves swearing and slang)
@evawertz2013 жыл бұрын
its not exactly the same because being informal doesn't mean how you would speak and swear with your friends. and in many languages, it would sound extremely weird if you are using the formal version with someone like your friend. when in English being super polite like saying "thank you very much, excuse me, etc" which I think you mean by formal is not as weird. but I agree like I mentioned they arent as distinct from each other so its more like being polite overall instead of a set of formal words.

Cok tesekkurler. I agree. I have taught Turkish for more than 10 years and the books that are publicly available for learners do more harm than good in general. @Abdullah_Johar4 жыл бұрын
I've a question mam! You said in 4:11 that "ya siz?" can be used for both "singular you" & "plural you" in a formal way. But you didn't mention anything about "singular you" or "plural you" while teaching "ya sen?" in informal way. My question is can "ya sen?" be used for both "plural you" ? Looking forward to your response mam :)
@LearnTurkishwithMuki4 жыл бұрын
I love this question. I am sorry the video didn't clarify the point for you. Here's your answer. "Siz" works both as formal "you" and formal/informal "you" plural. On the other hand, "sen" works only as singular you and it is informal.
