I'm half german half turkish but mostly german, so I'm not like most turkish people so I wouldn't quite get it but turkish people LOVE people that try to learn their language. If you learn the alphabet, it will solve most issues, as Turkish is phonetic (you pronounce the sound of each letter individually in every word, rather than like in English where collections of letters make sounds eg 'th', 'sh' etc). Also watching some tv in that language can help, as you will gain experience with word usage, phrases, and connotation. Good luck.

Since i already speak Arabic French and English, i find learning Turkish language much easier. It has a lot of words similar to some in the 3 languages i know. So i suggest for you to use your other languages knowledge to learn Turkish faster and easier. Good luck.🙂 I ve started it on Duolingo last year and stopped it. I forgot it but remember only basic vocabulary. But I decided to learn it seriously this year i started it last Monday.

I can imagine Arabic helps you with learning Turkish. But I also know English and French (and Romanian, and Dutch), and those are not really helping me with learning Turkish - they're completely different! There might be some French loanwords in Turkish, but that's it... Romanian is helping me a little, because that's also a language that works with a lot of suffixes, but other than that, Turkish is a completely new language and language family... 😊 Thank you! Wish there was Croatian on Duolingo or Babbel. My two favorite apps. So cool 😎 that you picked Turkish. I am sure it’s a real challenge. Saw in your other video it also has quite a few cases. I find them very difficult in Croatian. How is it going with listening? Do you understand any kids movie? A series?

I've never used Babbel, but I do really like Duolingo! There are 6 or 7 cases in Turkish, depending on which textbook you ask 😅😂 But some are very similar, which weirdly makes it easier, not more confusing 😅 I haven't really listened to any Turkish yet, but I hope to do so soon! I did buy a Turkish children's book but that's still way too difficult 😅

@@BlueIris92 I used babbel to learn dutch and really liked it. But also liked Duolingo. I did Duolingo the normal way and then the other way around 😂 was fun. I have heard there are really good series out in Turkish.

I'm not a fan of duolingo at all, but if that's the chosen resource, I think taking notes while working through it is the most effective method!

Duolingo differs greatly per language course. Turkish is quite elaborate regarding tips&notes for grammar rules, so that helps a lot! And if I still don't understand something, I'll just look it up elsewhere and complete my notes that way. I've always made my own grammar book like that, so to say ^^"

I don't think you can set a number for that... 😅 Just watch something whenever you can... Passive learning helps too, like listening to a Turkish podcast while you're going for a walk, or listen to Turkish music...

i'm a turkish that knows turkish, english and korean. i'm currently practising english and korean, and i also started to learn some different languages. i personally don't think duolingo is enough to learn a language since i have used it to learn languages in the past but didn't really work. my method to learn korean was talking to koreans as much as i can. that method was way faster than these apps and i could learn natural korean. so in my opinion, you can use this app for a beginning, but you should make sure you talk to turkish people as much as possible! i hope it helps you in your language journey! good luck (iyi şanslar)

I know though! 😊 This is a really old video, but people keep finding it 😅 If you watch my language goals video for 2021, you'll see that I don't just use Duolingo, but also work on reading, listening and speaking, and often use additional textbooks and workbooks... 😉 Good luck with all your language learning! 😊

There are so many methods! There are several good textbooks with exercises, there are good KZbin channels that help you learn, you can watch movies and series, read books or comics, practice with language apps like Duolingo or Babbel - so many options! You just have to find out what works best for you! There is not one perfect method to learn a language 😅

They are the same language family, I suppose, so therefore very similar... 😉 Not sure if I also want to learn those languages as well though... 😅 (Not yet, at least)
