@Kaidomi They could just stand there expressionless, looking at the camera...or turn away from the camera, so you just see their heads. Or they could stare off into space. Those would be creepy.

I'm an English teacher born in the States but I'm also fluent in Vietnamese. I've been teaching Vietnamese on the side to foreigners in Saigon for 2 years now and it's tough! Problem is you can't just pick up a few useful phrases right away like in English. You'll need to master all the basics first (alphabet, tones, diphthongs, etc.). Once you do that it's all downhill. Grammar is just basic subject + verb + object

Glad I found this. I was an Interpreter/Translator in Vietnam and have forgotten it over the years. Recently I've been trying to find an easy refresher so that I can communicate with the Military Veterans of South Vietnam that live in my area. Good job. I'm also trying to learn Chinese thanks to my Google Translate. Comes in handy in trying to communicate with the Chinese associate at work that hardly speaks English. My French and German are still pretty good. Vietnam Vet Dec 68-Mar 72.

Just to add something, we dont really say "khong sao" when responding to someone who say thank you to us. "khong sao" is used when someone says sorry / apologize to you. For example, A accidentally hits B, A: Xin loi anh. (I'm sorry) B: Khong sao.

I think what most fresh learners want to learn first in a new language is the alphabet and the pronunciation. As a Vietnamese, I think Vietnamese pronunciation is kind of hard. However, it is easy to master because Vietnamese language have the rule for all spellings. It is hard because it's totally different from Latin languages (French, Italian, Spanish...) or Germanic languages (English, German, Dutch...), which means people form other cultures often find it't difficult.

I am Vietnamese and I can tell you that the instructor's pronunciation is not standard. All Vietnamese newspapers, TV channels, radios are broadcast in Northern Vietnamese, which is best audible in our capital city Hanoi. Her pronunciation, however, is from the South, which is modified and does not correctly follow the writing. This means that she is not really pronouncing words the way they are written. However, I appreciate this channel for having helped people learn intermidiate Vietnamese

'không có chi' literally means 'no problems' or 'no worries' because we don't really say 'you're welcome' in such situation. It is more commonly used in Southern Vietnam, in the North we would say 'không có gì'. Northern Vietnamese and Southern Vietnamese are largely mutually intelligible, except for some very subtle difference. Huế dialect is bit harder but it's fairly easy to understand. Huế people would speak a more widely-accepted language if you had problems understanding. Cheers :)

In Vietnamese we often say "Không sao" to apologize to somebody and "Không có chi" to thank someone for helping. Also "Cám ơn nhiều" is used more than"Cám ơn rất nhiều" because the 2nd one is too formal.

I usually see ame-chi girl are beautiful. Idk exactly, but i've heard that guangtung and guangxi and vietnam people used to have a blood relative, that "bách việt", "100 yue". Then to avoid war and invasion of the Hoa Hạ folk, we separated "Bai yue" to went south, that's Yuenan (people who avoid war then went down south). Our language has big relative with chinese and cantonese in grammar, or some words to speak. Ex: bác sĩ(doctor) - boksi...(maybe in cantonese), minh bạch (lighting) - mìn bai... Women qu ta jia wan ba Chúng ta - tới - nhà cô ấy - chơi - đi. That's why i feel learn chinese easier than english :) But not, not in Hanzi anymore!!!

Hân Phạm Thanks. No offense, he or she mentioned that, partly because Cảm Ơn is từ Hán-Việt, not từ thuần Việt. In Hán Nôm, Cảm Ơn is written as 感恩 (romanized as gǎn ēn), which means "gratitude" or "being grateful" in Chinese, not ordinary "thank you". BTW, as far as I'm concerned, the evils behind the conflict between Việt Nam and Trung Quốc are colonialism and communism and have nothing to do with people, or with you and me. As a Chinese, it is my uttermost honor to be a neighbor of, and to share our language, history and culture with, Việt Nam.

Chính xác phải là "Cảm ơn" vì như vậy từ mới có nghĩa. Từ "cám ơn" chỉ là do mọi người đều nhanh thành ra như vậy thôi, lâu dần thành thói quen nhưng không chính xác :). Bạn có thể tham khảo thêm từ điển Tiếng Việt không hề có từ "cám ơn" mà chỉ có từ "cảm ơn".

Madtroid but her pronunciation isn’t poor nor is it not “fluent”. Maybe she doesn’t sound completely fluent but it’s not unintelligible. We can clearly understand what she’s saying 100%.
@LolLolMary
@LolLolMary 4 жыл бұрын
Madtroid she’s probably just a southerner or a Vietnamese American that learned Vietnamese. She obviously looks Vietnamese and sound Vietnamese. It’s the comment that’s saying her vietnamese is poor. It’s not. You can notice a little accent but not enough that she sounds like a damn foreigner. 🙂🙃

instead of writing in Viet, it would be helpful to have it in ENGLISH(american). Instead of CAM ON, maybe something like Gum Urn or something like that. American would read it as CAM(camel toe) On(On/off).

I'm American/English speaking, just a novice with VN, but I think it's better to see a given Viet word/phrase in VN than some phonetic English--for one thing, you have to consider the tones (if any) in the VN word, and for another thing, different VN accents may have different pronunciations so you'd have to come up with different phonetic English phrases...seems like more trouble than it's worth.

I live in Los Angeles, so I've gotten by just knowing Spanish and English. However, I have fallen in love with a Vietnamese girl. She's funny and smart. I'm glad she found me out of nowhere lol. I've never had an Asian friend before, so it's so weird I have an Asian girlfriend lol. Although, I don't think about it like that at all. She just makes me happy. She knows how to speak Vietnamese obviously. I'm trying to learn it so I can write her love letters every morning in Vietnamese.

"Không sao" dùng cho trường hợp trả lời người khác xin lỗi hoặc cảm thấy có lỗi với mình. Trong ngữ cảnh clip thì phải dùng "Ko có gì/chi" gì=chi; cám=cảm. Từ nào cũng chuẩn cả nhé, đều là từ phổ thông nhe các bạn Việt Nam.

Lol at the people with HUGE "egos" and think they know EVERYTHING. Good job though :D You make it so simple and right to the point. To all those people who keep saying, "Well IT COULD BE THIS TOO" the WHOLE purpose of her doing this video is to make the language as easy as possible to learn and not to start confusing fresh learners with multiple meanings for one phrase or word.
