David is really impressive. I've been learning vietnamese for 2 years already and i am still not even close to his level.
@HealingRedHeart5 жыл бұрын
Neyez, đừng bỏ cuộc. David stays in Vietnam. He has chances to speak this language every day. I assume you don't. Moreover, when you are appearing on video, you will go and find out how to say those words that you want to express but don't know yet. Don't compare yourself to others. Compare the "current you" with the "old you 2 years ago". Did you realize you have improved?

@@HealingRedHeart thank you for your support! It's been 3 years since my comment and I am still on the journey of learning vietnamese :D Now i believe I am better than David in this particular video but I still couldnt understand 100% of the video without checking the subtitles. So anyone who is struggling, vietnamese is really difficult language but dont give up!

A huge like to David for speaking four languages, especially Russian. Indeed, the Russian grammar is considered quite complex and tricky, especially for native English speakers. I hear this all the time from my Vnmese friends )))

Oh gosh, Russian is really difficult for me (native English speaker). Although Vietnamese has its difficulties, one super refreshing feature is the fact it has no gender and no conjugations!

2:25: "Vietnamese people like it very much when foreigners speak Vietnamese". I got the distinct impression--from another TVO vid, and other YT commenters--that the Vietnamese people won't speak to foreigners in Vietnamese unless you speak it perfectly (tones, accent, etc)...if anything, they might try to speak to you in English (if you're an English speaker) so they can learn more English. (?) At least this vid paints a lot more optimistic picture about someone who's relatively new to the language and is in Vietnam being able to converse with the locals in Vietnamese. :)

You can find vietnamese app or website and find English movie, they have translate and sometime they have vietnamese voice (south VN voice). Movie on cable, movie on Zing App, FPT App, website movie .

I'm thinking about learning Vietnamese. So.. is the Northern or Southern accent better to start with? Why?
@guitarislife015 жыл бұрын
It is easier to find resources to learn the northern dialect. I started learning with the southern dialect, and eventually switched because of the lack of resources to continue learning southern. I suggest learning the northern accent, even if your goal is to speak the southern accent. It will be easier to make the switch once you have a grasp of the language

8 months is quite awhile.. He's got some vocab and some structure down but if he were to talk to anyone besides his teacher there "in the real world", I would assume they would have a hard time understanding him.. I've been learning Vietnamese for 5 months now and I've been practicing with other vietnamese locals, every single day (which I believe to be the best way to learn). I think the most important thing about the language is getting the intonations down first and really grinding those out so you know them by heart.. otherwise your just blowing air and the locals will have a real difficult time trying to understand you. Other than that, keep it up!
