If i had problem 1 with the primer already on the floor and never hardening because it was mixed with epoxy hardener instead of primer hardener. What would be the most reasonable solution? Scrape everything off the floor and start from zero or is there maybe a way to overcoat the whole thing?
@learncoatings-epoxyfloorin94482 жыл бұрын
I would recommend that you try scraping as much as possible, and wiping away the rest with thinner. Then recoat the primer. I would not recommend overcoating, as there will always be a layer that has not cured properly

If you add another hardener to the esdee epoxy paint, can it be left to dry?
@learncoatings-epoxyfloorin9448 Жыл бұрын
Epoxy should always be mixed in the correct ratio according the manufacturer requirements. Never more, never less hardener than what the instructions say

Hello, I had added the clear coat without the hardener then mixed a new batch with the hardener and added it on top of just the clear coat that was spread. Its hardened but with fish eyes and some spots got sticky with dirt. Is there a way to address this? Such as removing juat the clear top coat?
@learncoatings-epoxyfloorin94483 жыл бұрын
It is very difficult to remove a sticky clear coat without damaging whats underneath. Try using xylene to wipe it down. Also this video may help kzbin.info/www/bejne/el6pYZtpaJ2thKc

You suggest that it is very important to use an electric mixer. However, on the Varathane Bar & Table Finish instructions, it states that an electric mixer should NOT be used. Is Bar & Table Finish different from, as in your video, a floor coat? Looking forward to knowing how to mix as my first attempt ended with stickiness all over and uneven blotches. Also, in my second attempt, my countertop does not have a polyurethane coating - just plywood. Is this acceptable? Or must I seal it with a polyurethane coat first? (All other surfaces in my 'project' have had a 50/50 mix of oil-base polyurethane / mineral spirits.) Glad to see your videos. Thanks!

Yes in large scale flooring application you need a mixer otherwise there is no way to achieve a uniformity in the mix. In small scale countertops you want to avoid fast mixing as this will lead to bubbling. As for your question on plywood I am not really familiar with countertops. If it contains moisture it might require sealing first

if you are applying floor epoxy . how many years it will stay shiny and clear ? does epoxy floors gets dimmer by time or shoes foot steps ? does epoxy need to be polished every 6 months so it stays shiny and clear? and does epoxy color get change by time ? waiting for your replay thanks

All epoxies have a tendency to lose their gloss over time. It really depends on their use and how often they are cleaned. Industrial floors that are not well maintained will lose their gloss quickly. If the floor is dirty and forklifts and people are walking on them, this will destroy the gloss. Epoxy cannot be polished. Over time it tends to yellow a bit, especially if it is exposed to the sun

Just did a dark grey epoxy garage floor. The entire thing is full of air bubble and the floor is ruined now. Not sure why this happened or how to fix it.

Sir please tell me What will happen if i add more of the b component I mean the hardener
@learncoatings-epoxyfloorin94485 жыл бұрын
You will have excess hardener in the system. This means the final surface might be greasy or gluey. It may lead to more dirt being picked up
