11:03 That's the most dwarven shit I've seen in DF for a while, lmao. >Has a tumble with an alligator. >Throwing hands in the river. >Happy for the bath opportunity. >Mad he drank some river water _without a goblet,_ like an animal. I love this game so much.

I've watched quite a few dwarf fortress videos on KZbin and that was one of the best. It must have took many hours to produce, well done and thank you for making it. Don't think I've ever made a slab for a pet before lol.

Thanks so much! Now that I think about it... I hope I *can* make a slab for this guy. I made an assumption there. At the very least, a masterpiece cat statue.

I'm new to Dwarf Fortress, and I was mostly looking for more story based channels so it was really cool to see yours recommended. I like it even more than others cause you show more of the gameplay and simplify it, like when you described the main traits of the dwarves. It's a lot to take in, but you make it easy to see whats important. The idea of a scholar fort is so cool too, something I am considering trying in the future now. Plus your original music is an amazing touch! Keep up the great work
@StoryDwarves10 ай бұрын
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. There really are so many layers of detail... you kind of have to decide what you're going to focus on for any period of time. The next video in this series will be more about relationships between dwarves, the world around us, and digging deeper into the writings (scholar fort after all!). I think I've had the most fun with this game when I've picked one simple theme/conceit going in and just let it play out. Rarely will things go the way you plan, but that's the magic.

It's so good to see more people making stuff like this. I was glad to see more dwarf fortress content after the steam release but man I wish it wasn't all streams
@StoryDwarves8 ай бұрын
I hear you - I love streams too but I'm attached to this game because of the storylines and the weird connections that happen in the world(s), and it takes a LOT of stream watching to get there, typically. Kruggsmash gave me the push. He said in one of his post-episode segments that if anyone was thinking of starting a channel like this, just do it. And I was, so I did. Glad you're here!

ive been waiting so long to find a fortress that focuses on scholarly pursuits, its my favourite mechanic in the game and i LOVE watching what of the many many many subjects dwarves end up researching and discovering. this series is going to be an absolute blessing to watch while i knit, especially with how soothing your voice is! you've absolutely earned a subscriber, fantastic work!!!
@StoryDwarves8 ай бұрын
Aw thank you so much! The thought of someone knitting and chilling out to this is honestly amazing. Dwarf Fortress is such a huge de-stresser for me. I'm glad to give back a little of that energy to the world.

While I generally enjoy the generated images you use to illustrate things, that floor plan was pretty confusing and clunky; a simple MS Paint drawing would suffice and be a lot more readable (for now, that is)!
@simeonwildman78810 ай бұрын
Next time, you ought to think about making one specialist singer, one keyboardist, one poet, etc. Then give them all 1 dot in teacher and however many in student, and let them teach each other. I suspect that (shortly) that will work out better (and more socially!) than giving each dwarf their own smattering of art skills.
@StoryDwarves10 ай бұрын
Ah could be worth a shot. My dwarves will probably always have musical skills no matter what kind of series I'm working on, so I'll give it a shot. One thing I learned this series is that unless you build the guildhalls right away, those skills get rusty very quickly.

Yeah I honestly hadn't messed with them that much at this point, and have since learned that I can just SMOOTH THE DANG STONE. That's a bit easier. Something kind of nice role-playing wise about walling it off though... feels more realistic? I dunno.

did you free hand that blueprint in the beginning?
@StoryDwarves8 ай бұрын
No that was an AI image from a description - wish I had some more of those skills, and/or more time to devote to that side of the project. The music and the story editing gets all my effort at the moment.
@jacobcrowley82077 ай бұрын
Very soothing voice, unfortunately drowned out on occasion by the music (distorted guitar track at the start and the synth in the track after that, overlapping the range of your voice too much). The music has more presence than your voice and personally that makes it hard for me to focus on your voice and story instead of the music. It's good music, it just tears my attention. Very interested in seeing how the fort goes, starting with science and culture and art instead of branching into it later after a fort is well established.
