Learner Driver Almost Passes Their Test, But Hits Kerb in Last 2 Seconds
This video shows a learner driver who was almost about to pass their driving test. They had been driving perfectly up until the last two seconds, when they hit the kerb during the Reverse Park Manoeuvre . This resulted in them failing their test, he was readjusting his car even though he had parked in the bay, it was during the readjustment he hit the kerb and failed his test.
The rest of his test was at an excellent level and he gave a good example of what is required to pass your test.

Passed a few days ago on my 5th attempt due to horrible driving anxiety and just fear of driving, in general, that's been building up in me since I was a kid. If anyone is dealing with the same thing, just know you got this and you will pass as well! Might take a bit longer to learn to control your fear enough to concentrate properly, but it can be done. I'm still dealing with it and keep driving with family/friends to lessen my anxiety before I even remotely start thinking of driving on my own. Still a long journey ahead of me, but I know I can do it and anyone dealing with this problem can do it too :)

You should really drive alone around 7pm when traffic is quiet, you'll see it doesn't feel bad at all it's a free feeling its more dangerous driving with family or friends as they can talk, distract you play music ect best thing is silence on your own full concentration approaching a roundabout thinking what gear to select checking mirrors instead of listening to friend ask what your doing this weekend and if they say it's clear at a junction don't take there word for it look for bikers not just cars your in full control with or without people

Well done on passing your test, driving can be daunting but the more you drive the more experience you gain. Over the years everyone will have close incidents, the important thing is not to let them discourage you when they happen. Its also easy to start dropping some of the check you would do as a Learner, but don't let that happen.

I've been watching a lot of your mock test videos to get myself prepared as I couldn't get in with a driving instructor and was taught solely by a family member. In Ireland touching (and not mounting) the kerb would have been a minor fault but he would have failed his test anyway because you’re only allowed 8 minor faults.

Grade 3 fault:- Dangerous/Potentially Dangerous fault, or total disregard of traffic controls. Failure of the test arises when an applicant incurs any of the following: - 1 or more grade 3 faults. 4 of the same grade 2 faults for a single aspect. 6 or more grade 2 faults under the same heading. 9 or more grade 2 faults overall." ​@darenbayliss7173 it's rough as all hell and I swear the examiners have it in for wanting to get fails, it's less so in the UK for what I've seen As the OP said as well though there are things that might get you a serious fault and fail in the UK that wouldn't immediately fail your test here. A stall for example would be a Grade 2 (serious fault, allowed 8) but not a grade 3 (dangerous fault, immediate fail)

I saw Pin's Driving video where he was being assessed by another driving instructor and I observed that while driving pin was actually saying the steps outloud like he was recalling them back. This actually helped me alot to learn faster. It also denotes that you are confident and you know what you are doing. Great tip.

Oh, I had that happen during my driving test as well. I scraped the kerb a little bit when I went in for a parallel park and I thought "I've definitely screwed it up". But got to the end of the test, and passed with I think 2 minors, neither of which were to do with parking. Was a massive relief (especially when after that mishap, I had to do an emergency brake because someone decided to just open their door in front of me without looking).

The new camera setup and top left and right information is so perfectly laid out. Only suggestion is to shrink the 3 camera setup along the bottom a bit, seems a little large still. Great improvement to the channel overall!

Passed today, 2 stupid minors for the same thing and that was going into it after a bad lesson last week, ive done 12 hours and used your videos alot while learning and it helped! Anyone thats doing well dont worry to much about failing mock tests and having a bad lesson, i never passed any of my mock tests from making little mistakes but they were corrected by the next lesson due to the mocks. Also the nerves are unreal💀

@@kxshmulla my instructor booked it for me, i done an intesive course with her and by my second lesson she was looking and found one after two or so weeks and i done it probably a month after that, if they’re able to ask your instructor even if they just do normal weekly lessons

I passed my test a few days ago with 3 minors after 2 attempts! These videos were super helpful. If you're a learner driver just watch these videos and get practice in your test centre area and you'll be fine! If you have problems with your nerves and anxiety like I did, deep and slow breaths and smelling chamomile oil really helps calm you down. Best wishes to everyone!

I love the videos with loads of failures, but it is good for Pin to have someone so good, given he uses Pin's app and videos as studying material. I failed my first test within the last 10 mins, an empty, small roundabout, apparently I didn't look left to exit even though there was no one on or at the roundabout. Passed the 2nd time with a single minor that I got when reversing back into the bay at the test centre to end the test.

Gotta disagree there sorry . A touch of a kerb is not a fail. A hit/ scrape/ scratch/ mount is a fail. Had many tests where a tyre has touched and the examiner has been fine with it

That mistake is actually a good thing even though it seems bad at the time. No chance at all he will do that on the actual test, not after doing it there, but if he had just parked normally here, maybe on the actual test he would have hit the kerb. Its like with the apollo missions, they said we need to fail down here so we don't fail up there,... you need to fail when learning so you don't fail when on the test.

I think more people should take mock tests especially if they are using school of mum & dad especially with such long waits for tests Always remember never to rush to take your test if your not 100% ready just push it back and seek professional help. There is no cheap way to pass and with tests requirements changing all the time make sure you seek some driving lessons from a ADI or PDI and never just go it alone

Another L was behind me I've seen it in the centre mirror, though never checked the blind. After that I took a few months break and when took second test I failed on roundabouts I don't know why, but I was stopping on each on them. (was treating them like junctions) I passed on my third time. (I took cancelation on this one). Now I plan to be an instructor myself. That's why I still watch these videos😅😅

I had my driving test and failed with 1 serious fault and 1 minor 😀 the serious fault was when I was parked, I was about to drive off there was a car coming towards me just as soon I was driving off, I checked my blind spots and reversed on time, the car just drove by slowly and moved on. I didn’t feel that should have costed a serious fault as the car was visible just when I started driving, only drove 10/20cm forward 😂 I reacted immediately without hesitation but it still was a serious fault

How is the Uk's driving test graded? I'm in Australia and the way car tests are marked here is pretty much the test is separated into 5 sections, in each section there's a bunch of items you can get marked on as being a fault, if you get a certain number of faults in one section it counts that section as being an X (tick is good, X is bad). 4 ticks and one X in those sections counts as a pass, andy more X's in those sections and it's a fail. I'm just curious as to how you guys mark the tests, cause I think that would make the tests in Aus using your system mean 6 minors is a fail.

I am confused on why you make your students drive a manual transmission instead of an automatic. Is it more common for people to drive a manual in the UK? just curious, as this makes no sense.. at 5:36, he mounted the curb going to fast and was given only a minor because 'his speed was low.. and no danger was caused'' .. regardless if there was no one around, that would've still been a fail for control / steering = serious fault and yet at 17:21 he failed due to barely touching the curb during that reverse bay park.. even though it was just a tap, it was safe, and no one around..

First one in pins videos where he flashed to give way and the last 2 second fail on a simple mistake. But yeah, nick knows how to drive no faults there. I think cause he thinks he needs more parking practice. Is the reason why he wanted to do it again. The insecurity about it causes him to over do the maneuver.

I've noticed on a few of your videos, you comment about learners stalling, confusing the indicators stalk with wipers, using third instead of first etc.. I would've thought you should've talked them through the vehicle controls before starting your 'test', to both assist them and safety reasons, both yours and theirs and other road users? Most learners will take the test in a car they are familiar with. Usually the instructors or their own/family vehicle. It is clear that some of them are confused, being in a strange car. Often panicked by the stress of the test environment. Perhaps you should consider this for future videos.👍

I am a bit surprised touching the kerb there was marked down as a serious fault - I would have assumed it's a minor at most. I wonder what makes that fault a serious fault?

Building up your confidence with experience, if you are driving safely and doing your observations then you should not be scared of traffic.

Plan ahead. Anticipate as much as possible then you'll have enough time to decide what to do. Also don't stare at the traffic as you'll tend to steer towards it

Take your time. Slow is better until you build muscle memory in what you are doing. No one learnt to walk by running around. Practice makes perfect and only then can you become faster.
