Honestly good on her. The fact she managed to stay calm and not stress out. These situations can be so tricky to deal with. We all know after one mistake, dwell on it. I just felt her pain the wholeeee way through. Just a little more practice and she’s deffo got it!!

When I did my test, early on I was asked to pull up on the right hand side and when doing so I touched the curb. For some reason I really thought that it was a major fault and I had failed my test but told myself I’d continue driving as best as I possibly could to prove my driving ability. I ended up passing the test with 3 minors being completely shocked by it
@SB-ew3bk
@SB-ew3bk 2 жыл бұрын
Nice one, that’s the attitude you gotta have. And if you fail the test, just remember the examiner is still there to assess your driving for the rest of the test duration (unless you do something dangerous and they terminate the test) so you know what mistakes you need to correct for next time.

I did that in my first test, I pulled in perfectly but she asked me to pull forward and I grazed the curb. I knew I failed, I had another major in a car park because I got nervous and it was busy. I failed, but I passed my third try doing the exact same route as the first tests I failed, in the same car park 😂

Dealing with hills from stationary is easiest if you coordinate with the handbrake. I think she never used it when starting uphill which would require excellent clutch control and rapidly coordinated movement of the right foot to the gas pedal at a precise moment. Experienced drivers can do this but just do it the easiest way until your skillset improves sufficiently.
@darko5339
@darko5339 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not really that experienced (3-4 years of independent driving, but not every day), and I still feel anxious on hills, but it is easier for me to not use the handbrake, as I have close to zero experience with that. On my test there weren't any hill starts / driving, and I live in a mostly flat area. So whenever I'm in heavy traffic on a hill, I feel like 50% anxious still, even though my starts uphill without the break are quite good and have never rolled back more than maybe 20-30 cm.

8:48 The reason for the stalling for the new drivers. Too fast off the clutch, not setting enough revs when moving off and when changing gears you need to build up speed more before changing up to the next one.

I am also now finally one of those viewers that still watches after passing, passed a couple of weeks ago first time 6 minors. Its so true what they say about the real learning starts once you pass, I must be honest and say that I have been struggling a bit in my own car and am yet to feel confident enough I can drive on my own. Going on what you was saying about you shouldnt just learn stuff for your test I totally agree I find myself a little disappointed as I am not confident on hills niether can I actually park in realistic conditions so it's causing me some issues and not helping my confidence so much I've even had an extra lesson when I passed.

What's makes you nervous while driving uphill? Its about clutch control. Try driving more as women often don't prefer driving and it's more of a privilege for them than an interest or passion. Also the spatial judgement and reflex do play a bog role as well

Don't show your faults! Don't admit anything! Take a breath and carry on. In my test the tester put their foot on the break pedal - I felt it. They weren't convinced we'd fit through a gap whilst crawling slowly(we did), everybody told me that was a fail if they ever did that - I didn't even acknowledge it, I carried on and passed with flying colours. I have a feeling if I said "I've failed, you touched the break" - she'd of had no choice but to fail me. Put on a brave face and get yourself through it, and hell - if you fail, so what? go again!

Interesting to see how mock tests work in other countries. In Romania we are taught that, every time you overtake an obstacle or parked vehicle, cyclist, etc, you have to use the turn signal to indicate that you are overtaking something on your side of the road, especially if it forces you to cross the axis of the road and into the other lane which is meant for incoming traffic. That way the vehicle behind you can see your turn signal which suggest that there is an obstacle or hazard to avoid and can adjust his speed accordingly and in a timely manner.

At low speed in a manual car like, at 14:20 you should never lift your foot off the clutch completely, that's the simplest way to stall your car. Also just practice not looking down to change gears, the reason for swerving in lanes, if you shift to wrong gears, big woop. Making mistakes is the fastest way to learn. Clutch control and shifting just comes to you with practice, just keep on it.

I took a wrong turn on my test and never had to go through a school zone and only forgot one blinker for a 3 point turn, earning only 5 points total. Here to fail you have to rack up more than 30 points to fail. Honestly, be confident when driving is all. Never sit somewhere acting unsure because then you make other drivers unsure and that's not safe. If your going to lane change, make sure nobody's there and do it as fast at possible so nobody behind you is held up because of it. I drove for about 3 months before my test so I would feel confident. Never really practiced a 3 point turn but watched many videos and understand the jist of it all. Basically go to your test with confidence, not nervousness I thought it would be way harder and stressful but it was super easy and fast. Also schedule for early morning so the test person isn't annoyed by everyone else before and so you don't have to deal with rush hour traffic. I had mine at 11:45 and it was a breeze. Good luck to you all!

Too many people just want the ability to drive rather than learning properly so you don't become a hazard on the road. Also, the UK has rubbish roads like here in Sydney. I have no experience with the test (or driving) in Lithuania (although I hope one day to visit, along with the other Baltic countries). In the UK, how touching the kerb affects your driving test is handled depending on the examiner. There are a list of driving elements that are divided into serious faults and minor faults. Touching the kerb comes under the broader category of car control. Many examiners will take into consideration other things that are happening at the same time. For example, gently touch the kerb when pulling up the the side of the road, but there are no pedestrians or other drivers around, what many examiners will do is get you to pull up by the side of the road several more times. If it was a single occurrence it will likely remain a minor fault in the car control column. If you gently touch the kerb every time, you are very likely to be given a serious fault for car control (which would be a failing mark). If in the same scenario when you first touch the kerb, there was a pedestrian walking on the pavement near the vehicle at the time, some examiners will immediately mark that as a serious fault, causing a failed test, because of the added danger to the pedestrian. If you touch the kerb during normal driving (so not when parking or maneuvers), examiners are more likely to mark that as a serious fault. The reason being that it demonstrates a lack of control under normal driving conditions, and that kerb could instead have been another vehicle that was there. So the lack of car control and lane discipline could have caused a serious situation, especially if we consider that possible vehicle could have been a bicycle, mobility vehicle, or a motorcycle. In the UK, whether a given fault causes you to fail is, for most examiners, a matter of context. If you haven't already passed a retest, I hope you do well on your retest. If you have, or when you do pass, I hope you have many kilometres of enjoyable driving ahead.

At 10:00 the problem isn't changing gear too early, she's actually trying to pull off in third gear. You can see she has her foot fully down on the gas almost. Therefore as soon as she shifts into what she thinks is second gear she hits what is actually fourth and stalls.

Looking down at gears is very dangerous, and its a sign shes a beginner learner or not had enough time on the road. Clutch control is also amateur. And her observations. No matter what car youre in, gears and clutch control should be managed easily if youre truly ready to be on the road. Young people think if they've had 20 lessons they're ready for a licence, but there's so much with driving that you have to master before you're a safe and competent driver. Checking mirrors to tick a box for the instructor is what we do when we learn, but knowing why we're checking the mirror is crucial. I think the age limit for driving should be raised.

I’m 18, passed when I was 18 and I’m completely fine. Most people I know have passed and are 18 and they’ve passed for nearly a year, no one’s crashed, had a penalty point etc. most dangerous drivers are people aged 20-40. Your just being stereotypical Plus those people got 0-3 faults

I think you’re generalising a little much in this comment. When you drive a new car it takes a little while to become used to the clutch, I learnt in a diesel and my cars a petrol which, for me, are quite different especially when it comes to moving off, that doesn’t mean I wasn’t ready to drive. It isn’t even the learner who suggests going for their practical, it’s the instructor (most of the time). Since I’ve been on the road, I can tell you that it isn’t us “young people” who are the danger, I actually had an older gent literally pull out of a junction without even looking and I had to emergency stop yesterday to avoid a head on collision, all because he wasn’t paying attention. Perhaps the ones who are supposed to be the most experienced and “safest” should be looked at first, not the new drivers who essentially are safer as they’ve had to go through a lot more just to obtain their licence.
@taliyahs1918
@taliyahs1918 2 жыл бұрын
@@okaychloe7195 Whether you're in a petrol or a diesel, that should not affect your ability to use gears. Looking down at gears is what beginner learners do. Most of the time, it IS the learner who wants to have their test before they're even ready. I dont know any instructor who tells a learner to get a test. If anything, they want to keep taking your money until you realise you're good enough to get a test. Yes old people can be a danger on the road too but that has no relevance to what i said about young drivers. The girl in the video had no control over the car at times. Zooming around bends. Probably has her foot still on the clutch. If that's not dangerous, I dont know what is.

I'm always confused by drivers who don't use the hand brake on inclines when moving off and just use the foot brake and clutch. Is this normal practice as I was taught that if you were stopped and were moving off set the gas find the bite then release the hand break. See a lot where people release hand brake first, cover break then quickly try to find bite and set gas.

G’day from Aus. I have a question for you Brits: how much experience do you need to pass on from your learners? In my state you need 80 hours (incl. 15 night hours) with a supervised driver and hold your L’s for 12 consecutive months, and even then you get people who shouldn’t pass progress to a solo license. Even still I like these videos because I am a volunteer mentor driver in my community for people who are disadvantaged, and while obviously cannot use these videos for the road rules, I observe how Pin is with his learner’s and try to emulate the same constructive criticism with mine. Keep it up mate 👍🏻

There is no requirement on the hours. They do say the amount of hours is roughly your age + 5. So a younger person age 18 would need roughly 23 hours. An older person like myself being 39 would need roughly 44 hours. This often seems quite accurate as younger people can of course learn things alot quicker.
